摘要: The invention relates to a data network for automatically monitoring voluntary behaviors of individual animals of an animal herd. The individual animals of the animal herd each have a node of the data network. A further node is attached at a location which an animal preferably approaches in the course of a behavior to be monitored. In the event that the animal approaches the node, communication occurs between the nodes, in which communication one node is identified by the other node and a central data-processing system is informed that the two nodes have come into contact. The communication between the two nodes occurs by means of the transfer of electrical signals in a closed electrical alternating-current circuit, which also passes, among other things, through the body of the animal as an electrical conductor.

摘要: The number of piglets dying at birth is reduced by providing a temperature sensor in a farrowing crate at the piglet area thereof on a movable cover so that, when the sow is expected to give birth, the sensor is located in the crate at a location to detect the presence of one or more piglets after birth. On detection by a control unit using the sensor signal of the one or more piglets, the sensor communicates a signal to a pager carried by an operator indicating to the operator that birth of piglets is in progress and activates a heating lamp for the piglets in the pen to attract them away from the area of the sow to reduce crushing. The control unit and the sensor also control the heat output. The cover can slide along the piglet area and can lift to expose the piglet area.

摘要: A method and system for monitoring the condition of livestock comprises a plurality of sensors (115, 103, 113, 111, 107, 105) for sensing a plurality of different behavioural parameters of an animal. The sensed data is transmitted by a unit (115), wirelessly, t a central processor (119) and a plurality of status conditions of the animal is determined on the basis of the transmitted, sensed data such as the onset of parturition, fertility status and other health status conditions. The unit (115) may be permanently worn by the animal and may keep an electronic record of the status conditions of the animal.

摘要: An object of the present invention is to lighten an observation work on livestock by an observer such as a specialized veterinarian, to reduce the expenses of an administrator of the livestock such as a stock farmer, and to save the labor of the administrator by providing a system of standby management for livestock birth which advantageously solves problems in the conventional observation system on the livestock being about to calve. A system of standby management for livestock birth comprises: one or more livestock biological data measurement means 1 for measuring changes in physical conditions due to the birth and outputting them as measurement data; a data relay means 2 for putting the measurement data from the livestock biological data measurement means on a communication line; a data display means 3 for receiving and displaying the measurement data transmitted via the communication line; and an information means 4 for informing an administrator of the livestock about the birth when it is judged that the livestock has the birth sign or the livestock is calving based on the results displayed on the data display means.

摘要: An animal birth detector is described comprising apparatus attached in the proximity of the animal's vulva for detecting the birth of offspring by monitoring the swelling of the vulva during the period prior to and during delivery of the newborn. More specifically, the animal birth detector comprises a unitary device containing a transmitter attached to the skin proximate one side of the animal's vulva, the transmitter utilizing a reed relay switch to sense the proximity of a permanent magnet located in the device. As the vulva dilates at time of delivery, the magnet is moved out of the magnetic field sensing area of the reed switch, turning on the transmitter whose transmissions are received by a receiver monitored by an attendant.
