    摘要: A meter for determining chill temperature and/or comfort index. This meter utilizes a composite sensor that is responsive to the environmental factors that produce a chill temperature as perceived by a person in that environment. Specifically, the sensor is responsive to the combined effects of wind velocity, real temperature, solar radiation and humidity. In the most general embodiment, the output signal from the sensor is fed to a programmed microprocessor wherein that signal is repetitively sampled, averaged and converted to an appropriate signal so as to be appropriately displayed. In order to prevent adverse affects upon the average by spurious large signals, the microprocessor is programmed to limit any sample signal to a value that differs from the average by only a selected amount. The normal signal from the sensor is proportional to the square root of the power, and the microprocessor first squares that signal prior to the averaging step. Since the sensor produces an analog signal, and the microprocessor uses digital signals, an analog-to-digital converter is used. In those instances where it is desired to accentuate the effect of a specific environmental factor, a complimentary sensor for that factor is used to produce a modification of the average value and thus cause the generation of a selected response for the meter.

If the thermal influence varies with time the probe may have the same thermodynamic characteristics as the human skin or these characteristics can also be obtained by an electric filter.

    摘要: A first thermometer is conventionally calibrated and a second is calibrated to read a predetermined temperature lower than actual temperature and provided with a heater resistor in good heat transfer relation to its bulb. Switch means connects a battery to the resistor to heat the second thermometer until it is observed to read the same as the first. Then the switch is repositioned such that appropriate circuitry causes reduced heating such that the elevated temperature condition of the second thermometer is merely "held" at that position and the bulb of the second thermometer is exposed to the wind and after a predetermined time (on the order of 30 seconds) the second thermometer is read, its reading representing the effective temperature as the result of wind chill.

    摘要: Surface modification control stations and methods in a globally distributed array for dynamically adjusting the atmospheric, terrestrial and oceanic properties. The control stations modify the humidity, currents, wind flows and heat removal rate of the surface and facilitate cooling and control of large area of global surface temperatures. This global system is made of arrays of multiple sub-systems that monitor climate and act locally on weather with dynamically generated local forcing & perturbations for guiding in a controlled manner aim at long-term modifications. The machineries are part of a large-scale system consisting of an array of many such machines put across the globe at locations called the control stations. These are then used in a coordinated manner to modify large area weather and the global climate as desired. The energy system installed at a control stations, with multiple machines to change the local parameters of the ocean, these stations are powered using renewable energy (RE) sources including Solar, Ocean Currents, Wind, Waves and Batteries to store energy and provide sufficient power and energy as required and available at all hours. This energy is then used to do directed work using special machines, that can be pumps for seawater to move ocean water either amplifying or changing the currents in various locations and at different depths, in addition it will have machineries for changing the vertical depth profile of the ocean of temperature, salinity and currents. Control stations will also directly use devices such as heat pumps to change the temperatures of local water either at surface or at controlled depths, or modify the humidity and salinity to change the atmospheric and oceanic properties as desired. The system will work in a globally coordinated manner applying artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms to learn from observations to improve the control characteristics and aim to slow down the rise of global surface temperatures. These systems are used to reduce the temperatures of coral reefs, arctic glaciers and south pacific to control the El Nino oscillations.
