Abstract:
The invention relates to the new usage of puerarin in the field of pharmaceutical products, in other words, it relates to the application of puerarin in the preparation of drugs for P2X3 mediated pain/nervous system diseases. The experiment shows that puerarin can inhibit pain-related behavioral responses, subsequently immunohistochemical analysis, in situ hybridization, RT-PCR, protein blotting and other techniques were utilized to observe the inhibition of puerarin on mRNA and protein expression of P2X3 receptor in dorsal root ganglion of rats with neuropathic pain and in dorsal root ganglion and sensory nerve ending in the burn model of rats, it was found by using whole-cell patch clamp technique that puerarin can significantly reduce the electric current activated by P2X3 receptor agonist in the neuron of dorsal root ganglion of rats with neuropathic pain. The experiment proves that the mechanism for the inhibitory effects of puerarin on acute and chronic pain is to block the transmission of pain sense information that is mediated by P2X3 receptor in primary sensory neurons. The invention provides a kind of new method for the prevention and treatment on acute and chronic pain, and it also indicates that puerarin can act as a antagonist for P2X3 receptor, which will be helpful for the application of drugs in the prevention and treatment on P2X3 receptor involved nervous system diseases.
Abstract:
One embodiment provides a system of exchanging information between a first party and a second party over a network. The system includes an interface module to prompt a query from a first party by a first key word search and to prompt a query from a second party by a second key word search in the network, a key word comparator module to compare the first and second key word searches, and a chat room admission module to automatically admit the first and second parties to a chat room if the first and second key word searches have substantial similarity. The chat room is embedded into a search result web page.
Abstract:
An online article is enhanced by displaying, in association with the article, supplemental content that includes entities that are extracted from the article and/or entities that are related to entities that are extracted from the article. The supplemental content further includes information about each of the entities. The information about an entity may be obtained by searching for the entity in one or more searchable repositories of data. For example, the supplemental content may include, for each entity, video, image, web, and/or news search results. The supplemental content may further include information such as stock quotes, abstracts, maps, scores, and so on. The entities are selected using a variety of analyses and ranking techniques based on contextual factors such as user-specific information, time-sensitive popularity trends, grammatical features, search result quality, and so on. The entities may further be selected for purposes such as generating ad-based revenue.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for tissue border detection using ultrasonic diagnostic images includes searching an initial central point of a target region in an ultrasonic diagnostic image of a detected target and determining an initial region border based on the initial central point and with the initial central point being a pole, searching a position of a target region border along a polar line across the pole and from an initial region border, and calculating an energy function of intensity distribution at different positions, wherein a position corresponding to a minimum value of the energy function of the intensity distribution is the border position of the target region.
Abstract:
A process for producing a fermentation product from a lignocellulose-containing material includes pre-treating the lignocellulose-containing material; introducing chitosan or a chitosan-like polymer to the pre-treated lignocellulose-containing material; exposing the pre-treated lignocellulose-containing material to an effective amount of a hydrolyzing enzyme; and fermenting with a fermenting organism to produce a fermentation product.
Abstract:
Embodiments provide a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) technique and optionally software—collectively referred to as the “shutter-speed” model—to analyze image data of cancer patients. Embodiments provide a minimally invasive, yet precisely accurate, approach to determining whether tumors are malignant or benign by distinguishing the characteristics of contrast reagent activity in benign and malignant tumors. Exemplary embodiments provide MRI measured biomarkers for tumor malignancy determination, effectively eliminating or limiting the false positives suffered by existing MRI techniques.
Abstract:
A system for determining the intent of query that includes a search engine that receives a first search query, a query/click log module configured to store log data associated with the first search query; and a computational module that generates metric values associated with the first search query based on the log data and that determines that the first search query is one of a regional specific query or a global query based on the metric values, where the metric values reflect a likelihood of local intent of the first search query, and where the search engine provides search results selected in part based on the metric values.
Abstract:
The invention discloses a method for tuning nano-scale analog-circuit designs in order to reduce random-device mismatches and optimize said design, where nano-scale devices potentially have large-scale process variations. The method includes providing a tunable circuit topology, wherein each nano-scale device comprises a single component or comprises multiple parallel components. Each component is decomposed into multiple discrete sub-components, wherein each said sub-component either operates in parallel with other like components to effectively operate like one bigger component. The sub-components are subjected to a dynamic-programming process to adaptively select the sub-components to be kept operational, while configuring the nonselected sub-components to be nonoperational, based on the measurement of at least one operational parameter.
Abstract:
An improved system and method for generating an online summary of a collection of documents is provided. A list of documents may be received, and the titles of the list of documents may be obtained. A set of terms that frequently occur in the titles of the documents may be iteratively expanded and overlapping phrases may be merged until there may be no more terms that occur in the titles with a frequency that exceeds a predefined threshold. In an embodiment, an article summarizer operably coupled to a search engine may be provided to generate a summary of a list of references to web pages in search results using titles of the web pages. The summary of the web pages may then be sent with the list of references to the web pages as search results to a client device for display to a user.
Abstract:
To accurately classify a query as navigational, thousands of available features are explored, extracted from major commercial search engine results, user Web search click data, query log, and the whole Web's relational content. To obtain the most useful features for navigational query identification, a three level system is used which integrates feature generation, feature integration, and feature selection in a pipeline. Because feature selection plays a key role in classification methodologies, the best feature selection method is coupled with the best classification approach to achieve the best performance for identifying navigational queries. According to one embodiment, linear Support Vector Machine (SVM) is used to rank features and the top ranked features are fed into a Stochastic Gradient Boosting Tree (SGBT) classification method for identifying whether or not a particular query is a navigational query.
