Abstract:
Disclosed is an embossing method and material made by the method, including at least a pair of embossing rolls having unmatched embossing patterns engraved independently from each other, and having enlarged sidewall clearances between adjacent, inter-engaged protrusions and recessions of the embossing patterns. The sidewall clearances can range from about 0.002″ (about 0.050 mm) to about 0.050″ (about 1.27 mm). The width of the protrusions can be greater than about 0.002″ or about 0.050 mm. The peripheral surface of at least one of the embossing rolls can comprise a metal, a plastic, a ceramic, or a rubber. Also disclosed is an embossed web material capable of being used as a wrap material for food products, made by the above process.
Abstract:
Method and device for producing a laminated, embossed and printed web of flexible material, such as paper and nonwoven material. Each of two web-shaped materials are separately embossed in selected embossing patterns while leaving other areas substantially non-embossed, at least one of the web-shaped materials is printed in a selected printing pattern, the printing and embossing steps being synchronized so that printing occurs mainly in the non-embossed areas of the web-shaped material. Glue is transferred to the embossed areas of at least one of the web-shaped materials and the embossed areas of the two web-shaped materials are adhesively joined in a lamination step to form a laminated web product.
Abstract:
Embossed and rolled tissue products are disclosed. In particular, an embossing pattern is used that enhances the softness and bulk of a tissue product without a substantial degradation in strength. The embossing patterns of the present invention are particularly well suited for use with bath tissues and with webs that have not been through-air dried. The web can be, for instance, a wet-pressed web that has been creped.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a high speed embossing and adhesive printing process, said process comprising the steps of (a) applying an adhesive to a conformable heated glue application roll; (b) applying said adhesive to a first patterned embossing roll, having an outer surface, which is engaged with a second patterned embossing roll having a complementary pattern to said first embossing roll; (c) passing a web of sheet material between said first and second embossing rolls at a tangential line speed to simultaneously emboss said web and apply said adhesive to said web, such that said adhesive forms an adhesive pattern between embossments; and (d) applying a renewable release agent to the outer surface of the first patterned embossing roll.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a roll constituted by a plurality of tissue paper sheets each having a specific surface weight between 10 and 40 g/m2 and exhibiting thick zones (4) separated over at least 90% of their periphery by thinner zones (5). According to the invention, and as regards at least the outermost turns of the roll, the thick zones are at least partly superposed one on the other in a way to add the thicknesses cumulatively and hence to create height differentials on the roll's outside. The invention also relates to a method for making a roll, wherein a strip composed of a plurality of juxtaposed tissue paper sheets exhibiting thick zones separated by thinner zones will be wound on itself. According to the invention, the winding of the roll is such that the thick zones (4) of the outermost roll turns are at least partly superposed in order to constitute a salient topography on the roll's outside.

Abstract:
The present invention provides methods for producing a seamless embossing shim. The shim carries a pattern to be embossed on a decorative medium, such that the image on the decorative medium contains no production seams. The methods comprise several steps. First, the a flat shim is casted onto a plastic cylinder to form a plastic master with the pattern on the outer surface to form a plastic master. Second, the plastic master is used to produce a metal master by depositing a layer of metal on the outer surface of the plastic master. Lastly, the metal master is then used to formed the seamless embossing shim by depositing a layer of metal on the inner surface of the metal master.
Abstract:
In a paper towel (1) with for example three layers (2, 3, 4) the two outer layers (3, 4) are provided with embossing (6) and the inner layer (2) is provided with printing (5). The layers (2, 3, 4) are at least partially transparent and are cemented to one another by means of a colored glue as the binder (9).
Abstract:
A laminate wiping product is disclosed. The wiping product includes a first outer ply that has a textured surface. For example, the first outer ply can be an uncreped throughdried paper web having a three-dimensional conformation. The second outer ply, on the other hand, can be a smoother and softer web. The plies are laminated together by any suitable process. In one embodiment, the plies are embossed and nested together to form the final product.
Abstract:
A sheet material web assembly includes a plurality of layers of sheet material web, with each layer having a plurality of embossments arranged in a pattern. The embossments in each layer are raised in the same direction and nest within the plurality of embossments in the other layers. A portion of the pattern of embossments further comprises a plurality of crimped embossments that bind the plurality of layers together.
Abstract:
Sheet-like materials suitable for use in the containment and protection of various items, as well as the preservation of perishable materials such as food items, comprise a sheet of material having a first active side and a second side. The first active side comprises a plurality of three-dimensional non-adherent protrusions extending outwardly from surrounding depressions and a pressure-sensitive adhesive composition coating on at least a portion of the depressions, wherein the adhesive composition coating has a thickness less than the height of the non-adherent protrusions and from about 0.00001 (0.00025 mm) to about 0.0002 inches (0.0051 mm) in thickness.
