摘要: A graphic arts sleeve includes a multilayer curved plate and an elongated slide. The plate presents opposed end margins that cooperatively form a longitudinal seam. The plate includes an engravable layer and an inner layer cladded relative to one another, with the inner layer being located radially inward of the engravable layer. The slide extends along the seam and is fixed relative to the plate radially inward of the engravable layer. A filler is located at least partly within the seam to bridge the end margins of the engravable layer. The engravable layer and the filler cooperatively providing an outer sleeve surface, with at least part of the outer sleeve surface being continuous across the seam from one end margin to the other end margin. A method of fabricating the sleeve and a press mandrel for supporting the sleeve, as well as other types of sleeves, are also disclosed.

摘要: A coating device for coating a peripheral surface of a sleeve body with a coating formulation includes a vertical support column for supporting a sleeve body in a vertical position coaxial with a coating axis, a carriage slideable along the vertical support column, and an annular coating stage attached to the carriage and moveable therewith for containing the coating formulation and for coating a layer of the coating formulation onto the peripheral surface of the sleeve body during a sliding movement of the carriage along the vertical support column. The coating device includes an irradiation stage that is arranged to be moveable with the annular coating stage and to provide radiation to at least partially cure the layer of coating formulation onto the peripheral surface so as to prevent flow off of the coating formulation.

摘要: A rubber sleeve for a printing press, having an at least two-layer structure, is disclosed. The rubber sleeve has an inner layer formed as a carrier layer and an outer layer formed as a functional layer and used for the printing process, the carrier layer and the functional layer being a constituent part of a rubber blanket, which is shaped in the manner of a sleeve in order to form the rubber sleeve and is connected to itself in the region of mutually opposite joint faces of the carrier layer and the functional layer. At least the joint faces of the carrier layer being enlarged in such a way that the same absorb circumferential forces acting on the rubber sleeve.

摘要: Laser imageable flexographic printing elements, including printing plates and printing sleeves and methods of making the laser imageable flexographic printing elements using a collapsible cross-linkable material comprising a curable elastomer, a material that absorbs laser radiation at a selected wavelength, and microspheres are disclosed. A laser is used to collapse and melt the collapsible cross-linkable material to form a relief image on the printing element. The printing element is thereafter cured by face exposure to crosslink and cure the formed relief image. The invention addresses a market need for eliminating chemical processing of printing elements, thus going from printing element to press much more quickly and using an environmentally friendly process.

摘要: A sleeve (10) for flexographic printing includes a sleeve body (2) made of an at least partially non-electroconductive material, which within its inside (4) is mountable on an electroconductive king roll on the outer wall of the roll, of a printing press, the king roll being designed as an air cylinder, and exhibiting at least one contact zone with the king roll. The sleeve exhibits an electroconductive surface (6), which is connected to the contact zone via at least one electroconductive element (20) provided in the sleeve body (2) for diverting electrostatic charges into the outer wall of the roll of the king roll. The sleeve is therefore given an electroconductive structure, through which the unavoidable electrostatic charges in printing presses with a plurality of printing couples are diverted via the king roll before it reaches a scale that would suffice for a discharge, ignition, or deflagration of the solvents used in the printing.
