Abstract:
Disclosed are methods and systems for using a rigid-stem assembly comprising a plurality of interconnected rigid stems in a marine survey. An embodiment discloses a geophysical sensor streamer comprising a rigid-stem assembly comprising a plurality of rigid stems that are interconnected and each comprise a stem body defining one or more interior chambers, wherein a geophysical sensor is incorporated into one or more of the rigid stems.
Abstract:
A depth-varying marine acoustic source array is configured for generating an acoustic wave in a body of water. The depth-varying marine acoustic source array includes a float; plural source points connected to the float through corresponding cables; and a housing extending from a first source point to a last source point, the housing including plural segments. The at least one segment is configured to withstand bending.
Abstract:
Disclosed are flexible printed circuits incorporated into marine geophysical streamers. An embodiment discloses a streamer for geophysical surveying comprising: a jacket; geophysical sensors; and a flexible printed circuit assembly disposed inside the jacket and coupled to the geophysical sensors, wherein the flexible printed circuit assembly comprises sensor signal conductors that communicatively couple the flexible printed circuit assembly to two or more of the geophysical sensors.
Abstract:
A generator for producing an electric field for with an inspection technology system is provided. The generator provides the required variable magnitude quasi-static electric fields for the “illumination” of objects, areas and volumes to be inspected by the system, and produces human-safe electric fields that are only visible to the system. The generator includes a casing, a driven, non-conducting and triboelectrically neutral rotation shaft mounted therein, an ungrounded electrostatic dipole element which works in the quasi-static range, and a non-conducting support for mounting the dipole element to the shaft. The dipole element has a wireless motor system and a charging system which are wholly contained within the dipole element and the support that uses an electrostatic approach to charge the dipole element.
Abstract:
Embodiments, including apparatuses, systems and methods, for attaching autonomous seismic nodes to a deployment cable. In an embodiment, an apparatus includes a seismic node having a direct attachment mechanism configured to directly attach the seismic node to a deployment line, the direct attachment mechanism being configurable between an open and/or unlocked position and a closed and/or locked position to release and retain the deployment line.
Abstract:
A streamer usable underwater for a marine seismic survey has a portion adjacent to a protuberance covered by an adhesive antifouling tape or substrate. The tape, which may be made of copper or copper alloy is configured to be fast fastened, may be applied when the streamer is deployed and may be covered by a protective jacket during recovery.
Abstract:
An electronic unit is constructed having a casing, at least partially flexible, at least partially made of a polymer material. The casing extends along a longitudinal axis (X) between two lateral ends and has a hollow cylindrical core for housing a portion of a core cable of a streamer, and a plurality of walls outwardly extending from the hollow cylindrical core, delimiting spaces configured for housing electronics, and having free ends. One of the walls and the hollow cylindrical core of the casing have a through-slot that extends longitudinally over a total length of the casing from one lateral end to another lateral end. An electronic board has at least one flexible part and configured for at least partially resting on free ends of at least two of the plurality of walls.
Abstract:
An apparatus is disclosed that includes a solid-core streamer with particle motion sensors disposed within the solid core. Some embodiments may additionally include one or more pressure sensors that are disposed outside of the solid core. In some embodiments, the apparatus may also include one or more electromagnetic sensors. Also disclosed are various methods of operating an apparatus that includes a streamer with particle motion sensors disposed within the solid core of the streamer.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for 3D seismic exploration for use in a small ship. The apparatus includes a seismic source towed by the small ship from a rear side thereof, a pair of support rods connected to the rear side and horizontally arranged in two rows behind the seismic source in the direction extending from a sailing direction of the ship, and a plurality of streamers arranged between the support rods in the sailing direction of the ship.
Abstract:
Method and apparatus for mitigating vibrations in a device towed in water. The apparatus includes one or more tuned elastic sections having a complex spring rate and adapted to attenuate vibrations in a specified frequency range; and a head end coupler adapted to couple the apparatus for vibration mitigation to a component of an electro-mechanical cable or a tow assembly. One of the one or more tuned elastic sections is coupled to the head end coupler with a high impedance material interface.
