Abstract:
A method and apparatus for automatically sectioning an interaction into sections, in order to get more insight into interactions. The method and apparatus include training, in which a model is generated upon training interactions and available tagging information, and run-time in which the model is used towards sectioning further interactions. The method and apparatus operate on context units within the interaction, wherein each context unit is characterized by a feature vector relate to textual, acoustic or other characteristics of the context unit.
Abstract:
A modem or associated computing or testing device is configured to detect the presence of one or more faults that affect DSL communications, and upon their detection, generate, for example, an indication, communication or message that recommends corrective action. In this context, a fault is generally caused by one or more unfiltered devices, impulsive noises, malfunctioning modems, or other factor that does not affect measured attenuation or measured noise, but does affect the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the link. In addition to being able to generate a message guiding a user through corrective action, the system can estimate the rate impact of the detected fault.
Abstract:
A user authentication method is applied to a user authentication apparatus for authentication using a unique ID that is information unique to a communication apparatus. The method includes acquiring a user ID as information identifying a user, and detecting a unique ID corresponding to the user ID from a user ID list. The method also includes making a call with a predetermined number of rings to a communication apparatus having the unique ID. Additionally, the method includes receiving a callback made by a communication apparatus after a predetermined number of rings of the call in response to the call. In addition, the method includes determining whether a unique ID of the communication apparatus having made the callback matches the unique ID of the communication apparatus to which the call has been made, and determining, if there is a match, that a user having the user ID is an authorized user.
Abstract:
Implementing calendar-based power reserve includes identifying a new calendar entry scheduled into a calendar application of a mobile communications device. The new calendar entry specifies a telephone call. Upon determining a priority indicator has been set for the new calendar entry in the calendar application, the calendar-based power reserve also includes directing a power management component of the mobile communications device to reserve an amount of power for the telephone call, and updating a battery power indicator on the mobile communications device to reflect a capacity of a battery of the mobile communications device. The capacity reflects a current amount of available power for the battery minus the amount of power to reserve.
Abstract:
A computer places in a call queue a call having caller identification information. The computer creates a database record that includes the caller identification information of the call placed in the call queue and an aggregate call queue duration value representing the aggregate time that one or more calls having the caller identification information have been in the call queue. The computer calculates a call queue duration for the call, and adds the calculated call queue duration for the call to the aggregate call queue duration value of the database record associated with the caller identification information of the call. If the aggregate call queue duration value exceeds a predetermined value, the computer provides special treatment to the call.
Abstract:
A communication method includes the steps of receiving a call from a caller for connection to a subscriber, attempting a connection to the subscriber and retrieving a media file associated with the subscriber. The media file is played to the caller during a ring-back period of the attempted connection, playing of the media file to the caller is charged to the provider of the media file.
Abstract:
An embodiment of the invention includes a method for detecting fraudulent use in a conference calling system. One or more time duration thresholds are received for a conference call. The conference call is monitored to determine an attendee duration, a participants duration, and/or a conference call duration. The attendee duration represents the call duration of an attendee of the conference call; the participants duration represents the total call duration of all of the attendees combined; and, the conference call duration represents the call duration of the conference call. The time duration thresholds are compared to the attendee duration, participants duration, and/or conference call duration. Actions are performed by a processor if the attendee duration, participants duration, and/or conference call duration exceeds the time duration thresholds.
Abstract:
A system for automatically collecting, displaying, analyzing and projecting data associated with inbound and outbound calls at a plurality of customer care call centers is presented. The system comprises a computer system, a memory, and an application stored in the memory that, when executed by the computer system, stores inbound call metrics about calls to a plurality of customer care call centers, and stores outbound call metrics about calls directed outbound from the plurality of customer care call centers. The system further determines a current call handling status of the plurality of customer care call centers, projects a future status of the plurality of customer care call centers based on the inbound call metrics, on the outbound call metrics, on the current call handling status, and on a call handling plan, and performs an action based on the projected future status of the plurality of customer care call centers.
Abstract:
A method of detecting that a condition exists that adversely impacts a digital subscriber line service (DSL) over a telephone line shared by the DSL service and a telephone service. The method includes obtaining information regarding operation of the DSL service over a plurality of different time periods, comparing the information for a first of the plurality of time periods with the information for a second of the plurality of time periods, and determining the condition exists based on the comparison.
Abstract:
The embodiment of the invention provides a media resource adaptation method, a media gateway controller and a server. In an embodiment of the invention, the services, the CTIS and the MGC are deployed in the center, each dispersed area is only equipped with the access equipment or the resource equipment, the deployment structure is simple, and the maintenance workload is less. The CTIS decides the resource adaptation, and the resource can be extended to the service sides. Therefore, the resource usage is flexible. The user terminal call can obtain the local media services, which reduces the occupancy of a VoIP long-distance link, thus lowering the operation cost. Furthermore, the global share of the media resources is realized, which is favorable for load balance and reduces the cost of redundancy devices.
