Abstract:
A method for determining a network configuration for the delivery of entangled photons individually to a plurality of users, the network comprising a plurality of inputs, switches, and outputs operatively connected by optical fibers; the plurality of switches being switchable between two states; the method comprising: determining the minimum number of switches necessary to deliver entangled photon pairs from a predetermined number of sources to a predetermined number of users, minimizing the loss experienced by an entangled photon passing through the switches by minimizing the number of switches that any one photon passes through by selecting only nondominated switch configurations; determining the minimum number of equivalent network switch configurations and eliminating all but one of the equivalent network switch configurations; and selecting an optimum network configuration by which the plurality of inputs and the plurality of outputs are operatively interconnected using a minimum number of switches in any one route.
Abstract:
A system and method for identifying the location of gunfire from a moving object in which at least two spaced apart microphones are positioned on the moving object. The output from the microphones is decomposed into intrinsic mode functions by using empirical mode decomposition. A transient pulse is then identified in the intrinsic mode function representative of the gunfire. The location of the origin of the gunfire is then determined from the transient pulses through multilateration using time difference of arrival of the transient pulses by the microphones.
Abstract:
A method and system configured to provide a weather forecast for a selected zone is provided. The method and system is configured to receive meteorological reports and locally sensed measurements. The information is transmitted to a weather model preprocessor disposed on the device which generates an analysis field. This information is passed to the weather model which is an executable program also disposed on the device. The weather model processes the analysis field generated by meteorological reports, large-scale initialization data and in-situ sensor values to generate an initial weather forecast. The weather model updates the initial weather forecast with real-time, high-resolution atmospheric measurements to generate a weather forecast more representative of the user's zone than that available from Internet/media outlets. Furthermore, because the weather model is run on the mobile device itself, staleness of the forecast will no longer be an issue, as forecasts can be generated on demand.
Abstract:
A breech assembly for an automatic weapon having a barrel extension aligned with and extending outwardly from the rifle bore. The barrel extension has a throughbore aligned with the rifle bore and a non-circular locking recess at a rear end of fee barrel extension. The barrel extension also includes an internal thread in the throughbore. An elongated bolt includes an external thread complementary to the infernal thread hi the barrel extension. The bolt is mounted to a bolt carrier that is longitudinally slidably mounted to the gun body. Longitudinal movement of the bolt carrier simultaneously longitudinally and rotatably drives the bolt so that the bolt thread is threaded into the barrel extension.

A method for controlling access in a wireless communication system comprising providing a wireless network comprising a plurality of communication units configured to transmit and/or receive communications over a channel; each communication unit being operatively associated with a delay counter and a memory containing reservations for a communication unit to transmit.
Abstract:
A projectile for use with a tapered gun bore having a tapered bore section between the breech and the muzzle. The projectile includes an elongated body having a cylindrical bulkhead with a diameter substantially equal to the large caliber section of the gun bore. A tapered ogive extends from the bulkhead to a front end of the projectile while a tapered tail extends from a rear end of the projectile to the cylindrical bulkhead. A plurality of circumferentially spaced forward grooves extend forwardly from the bulkhead and to a point short of the front end while a plurality of circumferentially spaced rearward grooves extend rearwardly from said midsection and to a point short of a rear end of the body.
