Abstract: Techniques for performing peer discovery to enable peer-to-peer (P2P) communication are disclosed. In an aspect, a proximity detection signal used for peer discovery may be generated based on one or more physical channels and/or signals used in a wireless network. In one design, a user equipment (UE) may generate a proximity detection signal occupying at least one resource block based on a SC-FDMA modulation technique. In another design, the UE may generate a proximity detection signal occupying at least one resource block based on an OFDMA modulation technique. The UE may generate SC-FDMA symbols or OFDMA symbols in different manners for different physical channels. In yet another design, the UE may generate a proximity detection signal including a primary synchronization signal and a secondary synchronization signal. For all designs, the UE may transmit the proximity detection signal to indicate its presence and to enable other UEs to detect the UE.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to reserving resources in wireless communication systems, such as those employing listen before talk (LBT). The disclosed methods and apparatus employ a channel reservation preamble used in a sequence of burst or data packet transmissions. The preamble including a channel reservation indication is included in a first data packet transmitted from a first network node. The channel reservation indication is configured to indicate a transmission time reservation of channel resources covering the data packet containing the preamble, a second data packet to be received from a second network node responsive to the first data packet, and at least a portion of a third data packet transmitted from the first network node subsequent to the transmission of the second data packet. In this manner, over-reservation of channel resources is mitigated. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also claimed and described.

For example, the first device may communicate with a second device (e.g., a TRP) via a first link and communicate with a third device (e.g., a TRP) via a second link. Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) or base station communicating in an unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band may transmit a signal (e.g., a request-to-send (RTS) or clear-to-send (CTS) signal) in a licensed radio frequency spectrum band to decrease the likelihood that neighboring devices will transmit interfering communications. Specific resources may be designated in the licensed radio frequency spectrum band for transmitting these signals, and these resources may be associated with specific unlicensed channels. Signaling in the licensed radio frequency spectrum band may also carry an indication of the unlicensed channel being used or other information relevant to the unlicensed communication. The RTS/CTS signaling in licensed radio frequency spectrum band may be transmitted during a downlink transmit opportunity or an uplink transmit opportunity, or both. Different energy detection thresholds may apply to RTS/CTS signals in licensed and unlicensed spectrum.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A base station may transmit a configuration for enhanced paging to a UE being served by a cell over a shared frequency band. The enhanced paging may include multiple paging intervals for each paging cycle. The UE may enable reception for a paging interval and determine whether the UE receives a downlink transmission. The UE may lengthen a paging interval or enable reception during a second paging interval based in part on determining whether the UE receives a downlink transmission. In some examples, the UE may receive a paging queue status indication indicating that paging information will be transmitted during a paging interval or a later interval, or indicating that no paging information is present at a serving cell.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A base station may identify a transmission opportunity duration and an allocation for downlink and uplink transmissions, then broadcast a channel reservation request transmission. The broadcast may be sent using unlicensed radio frequency spectrum over a channel that includes multiple-sub-bands. The channel reservation transmission may include the identified duration, allocation, and a channel state information (CSI) request. User equipments (UEs) may receive the broadcast, and respond with a channel reservation response transmission that includes a CSI report, a transmit identity, or an interference threshold indicator. In some cases, some or all of the UEs may transmit a sounding reference signal (SRS) in response to an SRS request that is broadcast by the base station. The base station may schedule uplink and/or downlink transmissions to at least a subset of the multiple UEs based on the channel reservation response and/or SRS.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A wireless communication system may utilize a listen before talk (LBT) procedure prior to transmission. A base station may perform an enhanced clear channel assessment (eCCA) on one channel and a single clear channel assessment (CCA) on another channel. The base station may then send a grant for a user equipment (UE) to transmit on both channels. The UE may receive the grant, and perform a single CCA on the first channel and an eCCA on the second channel. The UE may then transmit uplink information on both the first channel and the second channel. That is, the base station may send an opportunistic grant for transmitting on the second channel even though it may not have passed eCCA at the base station. The UE may then use the channel if it passes an eCCA.

A wireless communication system may support multiple coding schemes such as, for example, turbo codes and low density parity check codes. Abstract: A base station or user equipment (UE) may manage scheduling of code blocks to be transmitted and manage memory interface usage to enhance memory read and write operations and provide for enhanced efficiency for decoding of retransmissions of code blocks. In some aspects, a base station or UE may identify an available throughput, or budget, for performing read and write operations to a memory. The base station or UE may then estimate an amount of read and write operations to be performed during a particular time period. In the event that the amount of read and write operations exceed the budget, scheduling of code blocks to be transmitted may be adjusted, one or more read or write operations may be skipped, or combinations thereof may be employed to achieve the memory read and write budget.
