Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Generally, the described techniques provide that an access point (AP) or a station (STA) may identify, from a set of channels in a radio frequency spectrum band, a subset of discovery channels. The discovery channels may be designated for discovery signaling for device association. An AP may transmit discovery information for associating with a STA over a discovery channel from the subset of discovery channels. In some examples, the AP may receive a probe request from a STA operating in an active scanning mode, and may transmit the discovery information in a probe response. In some examples, the AP may transmit the discovery information in a periodic signal, such as a beacon, to a STA operating in a passive scanning mode. The AP may receive an association request and associate with the STA.

Abstract: Features related to providing feedback corresponding to a portion of a data frame while another portion of the data frame is being received are described. In an aspect, a first device may transmit, to a second device, at least one MPDU of a plurality of MPDUs within the data frame via a data channel, and receive feedback corresponding to the at least one MPDU in a feedback channel while at least a first MPDU of the remaining MPDUs within the data frame is being transmitted. In another aspect, a first device, e.g., receiver of data frame, may receive, from a second device, at least one MPDU of a plurality of MPDUs within a data frame, and transmit feedback corresponding to the at least one MPDU while at least a first MPDU of the remaining MPDUs within the data frame is being received.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for wireless communications. A wireless device may advertise communication parameters for a particular frequency band over another frequency band. In one example, a wireless device generates multi-band wrapper information element or a neighbor report information element, which may include one or more subelements, each conveying communication information for a particular frequency band. The wireless device may include the multi-band wrapper information element or the neighbor report information element in a management frame and may transmit the management frame over a first frequency band. Another wireless device may receive the management frame over the first frequency band and may obtain the communication information for other frequency bands from the included multi-band wrapper information element. In some cases, a subelement carries communication information that is sufficient for the receiving device to directly associate with the transmitting device over the other frequency bands.

The operations include receiving a first message indicating a reuse transmission opportunity associated with a downlink transmission from a first device to a second device. The operations further include determining to participate in the reuse transmission opportunity based at least in part on the downlink transmission. The operations further include, during the reuse transmission opportunity, transmitting uplink communications to the first device concurrently with the downlink transmission from the first device to the second device in the same frequency channel.

Abstract: Distributed MIMO communication utilizes multiple access points within a cluster. Methods and systems for access point discovery provide for formation of a cluster to support the distributed MIMO communication. In one aspect, a method includes generating, by a first access point, a first message indicating the first access point has distributed MIMO capability and transmitting, by the first access point, the first message on a wireless network. The method further includes receiving, by the first access point, a second message from a second access point, the second message identifying a cluster and determining, by the first access point, to participate in the identified cluster in response to the second message.

Abstract: A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. In one aspect, a first station discovers a second station capable of providing a service of interest to the first station. The second station is one of a plurality of stations participating in a NAN data link network that provides the service of interest and supports communication over a NAN data link channel without beaconing. The second station is discovered through communication over a NAN channel supported by a plurality of neighborhood stations forming a NAN network. The NAN channel has a beaconing operation that provides synchronization. After discovery of the second station, the first station communicates with the second station over the NAN data link channel, to obtain data corresponding to the service of interest.

Abstract: Methods and systems for accessing networks prohibit uncontrolled communications over a designated network. In some aspects, a method of controlling network access is disclosed. The method comprises transmitting, by a first access point, a first beacon over a first network to a station, the first beacon including information allowing the station to associate with the first access point. The method also comprises receiving a probe request at the first access point over the first network from the station, the probe request including a request for rules for associating with a second network. The method additional comprises generating a probe response to include the rules regarding associating with the second network, wherein the rules do not permit uncontrolled communications over the second network. The method further comprises transmitting the probe response from the first access point to the station over the first network.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A wireless device may identify a multi-link aggregation capability (e.g., a capability to transmit in parallel over multiple wireless links), and may transmit an indication of such capability to another wireless device. The indication may be included in an information element (e.g., a multi-band element) of a transmission frame. For example, the indication may be included in a multi-band element of a beacon, of association signaling, of probe signaling, of an add block acknowledgement (ADDBA) request, etc. The indication sent over one of the wireless links may include information for some or all the multiple links supported for multi-link aggregation. This information may include media access control (MAC) address, channel information, operating class, security information, etc. for each link. Such multi-link aggregation information may be used, for example, for establishment of improved block acknowledgment (BA) sessions between wireless devices.
