Abstract:
A new type of Markovian sequence generator and generation method generates a Markovian sequence having controllable properties, notably properties that satisfy at least one control criterion which is a computable requirement holding on items in the sequence. The Markovian sequence is generated chunkwise, each chunk containing a plurality of items in the sequence. During generation of each chunk a search is performed in the space of Markovian sequences to find a chunk-sized series of items which enables the control criterion to be satisfied. The search can be performed using a generate and test approach in which chunk-sized Markovian sequences are generated then tested for compliance with the requirement(s) of the control criteria. Alternatively, the search can be performed by formulating the sequence-generation task as a constraint satisfaction problem, with one or more constraints ensuring that the generated sequence is Markovian and one or more constraints enforcing the requirement(s) of the control criteria. The sequence generator can be used in an interactive system where a user specifies the control criterion via an inputting device (20).

Abstract:
An automatic performance apparatus which enables expressive ensemble performance to be carried out with a sense of uniformity. Operation signals according to operation by at least one operator, and identification information for identifying a plurality of operating elements are output from these operating elements. Operation-related information indicative of the relationship between respective ones of the plurality of operating elements and respective ones of a plurality of channels, and the master-slave relationship between the plurality of operating elements are stored in a storage. When the operation signals and the identification information are output from the plurality of operating elements, the operation-related information is referred to determine corresponding ones of the channels to the identification information, a sounding event of a musical tone to be sounded next is read out from the performance data for each of the corresponding ones of the channels, and a sounding process on the readout sounding event is carried out by a sounding processing device. The sounding process is controlled such that the position of a sounding event corresponding to at least one of the operating elements as a slave never goes beyond the position of a sounding event corresponding to one of the operating elements as a master, which is to be processed next.

Abstract:
A skateboard has a board that is rotatably provided with a front wheel and rear wheel. Disposed on the both sides of the board are speakers. On the front wheel there is provided a steering angle sensor, while on the rear wheel there is provided a rotational speed sensor in order to sense the traveling direction and traveling speed of the skateboard. A control box disposed on the undersurface of the board is equipped with a computer device and tone generator. The computer device controls, in accordance with the traveling direction and speed of the skateboard, the performance tempo of automatic rhythm and automatic performance, the switching between automatic rhythm patterns, and the generation of musical tone signals. The present invention brings more fun to a player without making the player tired by adding variation to music to which the player listens during the ride on the moving apparatus in accordance with the movement of the moving apparatus.
Abstract:
There is provided a musical tone generation control system which enables the user to obtain a feeling of operation as well as to obtain a feeling of satisfaction as if he or she were aggressively participating in performance or playback of a musical composition or the like. The musical tone generation control system has at least one operating terminal that can be carried by an operator. Each operating terminal detects a motion of the operating terminal caused by an operation of the operator, generates motion information based on the detected motion, and transmits the generated motion information to the musical tone generation control apparatus. A musical tone generation control apparatus including a tone generating apparatus that generates musical tones generates performance control information for controlling musical tones generated from the tone generating apparatus based on the received motion information, generates vibration control information based on the generated performance control information, and transmits the generated vibration control information to the operating terminal. The operating terminal generates a vibration corresponding to the received vibration control information.

A skateboard SB has a board 10 that is rotatably provided with a front wheel 25 and rear wheel 26. Disposed on the both sides of the board 10 are speakers 12a, 12b. On the front wheel 25 there is provided a steering angle sensor 46, while on the rear wheel 26 there is provided a rotational speed sensor 64 in order to sense the traveling direction and traveling speed of the skateboard SB. A control box 13 disposed on the undersurface of the board 10 is equipped with a computer device and tone generator. The computer device controls, in accordance with the traveling direction and speed of the skateboard SB, the performance tempo of automatic rhythm and automatic performance, the switching between automatic rhythm patterns, and the generation of musical tone signals. The present invention brings more fun to a player without making the player tired by adding variation to music to which the player listens during the ride on the moving apparatus in accordance with the movement of the moving apparatus.
Abstract:
A rhythm input section converts a rhythm pattern input by the user to an electrical signal, which is in turn output. A rhythm dictionary storage section stores a rhythm dictionary table which associates the contents of a control of an apparatus with a registered rhythm pattern. The registered rhythm pattern is obtained by typifying a pronunciation pattern of a name indicating the contents of the control. A control section analyzes the electrical signal from the rhythm input section to recognize the input rhythm pattern input by the user, recognizes the contents of a corresponding control by referencing the rhythm dictionary storage section, and controls an operation of an in-vehicle apparatus.
Abstract:
Sound data output and manipulation with haptic feedback. Haptic sensations are associated with sound data to assist in navigating through and editing the sound data. The sound data is loaded into computer memory and played such that sound is output from an audio device. The sound playing is controlled by user input for navigation through the sound data. Haptic commands are generated based on the sound data and are used to output haptic sensations to the user by a haptic feedback device manipulated by the user. The haptic sensations correspond to one or more characteristics of the sound data to assist the user in discerning features of the sound data during the navigation through and editing of the sound data.
