Abstract:
The invention concerns a method for making a sheet of paper comprising at least two crimped cotton-wool-like cellulose plies (20, 40). It consists in: unwinding a first ply (20) in the form of a strip from a reel, embossing it on an embossing unit (10, 12) and forming protuberances at its surface, unwinding a second ply (40) in the form of a strip from a reel, guiding it downstream of the embossing unit (10, 12), superposing the two strips, with their protuberances facing inwards, and in applying a linking means (14, 16) so as to make the two strips integral with each other. Said method is characterised in that immediately upstream of said linking means (14, 16), a tension regulating means (18) is applied in the machine direction on one of the strips, such that the two strips have the same elastic deformation in the machine direction when the linking means is applied. The invention also concerns a product obtained by said method.
Abstract:
Multi-ply fibrous structure products, more specifically embossed multi-ply fibrous structure products and methods for making same are provided.
Abstract:
An embossing and adhesive application process including the steps of: applying an adhesive to a first patterned embossing roll which is engaged with a second patterned embossing roll having a complementary pattern to the first embossing roll; passing a web of sheet material between the first and second embossing rolls at a tangential line speed to simultaneously emboss the web and direct the adhesive against the web; and splitting the adhesive such that at least some of the adhesive remains on the first embossing roll and some of the adhesive remains on the web to form an adhesive pattern between embossments on the web.
Abstract:
A device for applying a spot embossing pattern to a web of multi-ply tissue paper being processed in a paper converting machine comprises a marrying roll and a spot embossing unit cooperating and being positioned against the marrying roll. The spot embossing unit comprises a spot embossing roll with a raised embossing pattern on its circumferential surface. The at least two plies of tissue web are combined with a marrying roll and pass between the marrying roll and the spot embossing unit.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a sheet of paper made up of at least two plies of creped tissue paper, an upper ply and a lower ply, each of a surface measure ranging from 10 to 40 g/m2, the upper ply being embossed and provided with first protuberances. It is characterized in that such first protuberances are divided into rows which between them delimit cells of an area ranging from 1 to 20 cm2, the upper ply being longer in the direction of advance than the lower ply by at least 0.6% and joined to it by the apex of the first protuberances so that cushions are formed inside the cells.

Abstract:
Disclosed is an embossing method and material made by the method, including at least a pair of embossing rolls having unmatched embossing patterns engraved independently from each other, and having enlarged sidewall clearances between adjacent, inter-engaged protrusions and recessions of the embossing patterns. The sidewall clearances can range from about 0.002null (about 0.050 mm) to about 0.050null (about 1.27 mm). The width of the protrusions can be greater than about 0.002null or about 0.050 mm. The peripheral surface of at least one of the embossing rolls can comprise a metal, a plastic, a ceramic, or a rubber. Also disclosed is an embossed web material capable of being used as a wrap material for food products, made by the above process.
Abstract:
A patterned element for use in an embossing and adhesive application process. The patterened element comprises a material having an pattern disposed thereon, wherein the material comprises a polymer and has a Shore A hardness of greater than about 70, and has a critical surface energy of less than about 30 dynes/cm.
Abstract:
A process for producing additive composition treated multi-ply tissue products is disclosed. In accordance with the present invention, at least one (1) ply of the tissue product is treated with an additive composition, such as a lotion. Once the additive composition is applied to the tissue product, the tissue is then hot embossed by being fed through, for example, a heated bonding nip. It has been discovered that the hot embossing step improves the adhesion between the multiple plies.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to composite materials and to wiping items having enhanced absorbing properties. It more specifically deals with absorbing composite materials consisting of a super-absorbing product placed between two or several cellulose wadding webs. The invention also relates to a method and to a device for preparing these wiping products or items, as well as to their uses, notably for the industrial wiping of various liquids (water, oil, fats, biological fluids, mixtures, etc.)
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for manufacturing a sheet of paper tissue which is embossed by an embossing cylinder of which the surface is fitted at least in part with embossing elements. The elements include a frustoconical base portion and a tip portion. The method is characterized in that the tip segment includes a flat of which the area is less than 75% of the smaller cross-sectional area of the base. Preferably the area of the flat is less than 20% of the base cross-sectional area. The invention furthermore concerns a sheet thusly manufactured and to sheets made of several plies of which at least one is a ply of the invention.
