Abstract:
The invention relates to a method of preparing a surface to be treated such as a surface to be painted. The surface is initially divided into so-called patches by a method known. Subsequently, the patches are grouped in so-called main faces by the method according to the invention. The main faces are used for defining a number of so-called virtual surfaces, also by the method according to the invention, and the virtual surfaces are used to establish lines of treatment along the surface, such as paint lines, said lines of treatment defining the subsequent motion of the tool for treatment.
Abstract:
Selected substances are applied to the inner surface of the bubble during blown-film extrusion, with the intent of altering the physical, chemical or biological properties of resin films manufactured by the extrusion process. Preferred embodiments of the invention are disclosed, wherein a fluid preparation of selected substances is atomized from a point on the longitudinal axis of the bubble by one atomizing apparatus fixed on top of the die mandrel of a blown-film extruder. In the embodiments described, the atomizing apparatus is: (1) a tube that delivers fluid in a continuous manner to the center of the top surface of a spinning disc that atomizes the fluid towards the inner surface of the film bubble, or (2) a plurality of spraying nozzles connected to a tube that delivers the fluid to be atomized, and oriented to spray towards the inner surface of the film bubble.
Abstract:
In order to make weather seals from closed cell elastomer foam material, molten plastic is extruded over a substrate of the foam material. Surface reactions during extrusion are avoided by continuously pulling the substrate through an oven chamber to degas (and remove moisture from) the material at least on its outside to a limiting thickness of the order of 10-30 mil to form a skin or crust. The extrusion of the over-coating is carried out to form a sleeve while the substrate is still hot. Since the skin is a degassed region on the outside of the foam substrate, reactions which may cause blistering and prevent the extrusion of a smooth and firmly adhering skin are avoided. The substrate material is preferably a thermosetting EPDM rubber closed cell foam, and the over coating material is a thermoplastic elastomer (TPE).
Abstract:
A method of manufacturing gypsum board includes applying compressed air to an input end of a tube, wherein the tube includes the input end, an output end, and a venturi located between the input end and the output end; admitting a foaming agent to the input end of the tube so as to form a mixture of the compressed air and the diluted foaming agent; passing the mixture through the venturi and out the output end; combining the mixture with gypsum and water to form a gypsum slurry; and casting the gypsum slurry onto a continuous web for forming a gypsum board.
Abstract:
Described is a method and an apparatus for coating a plastic container, especially a PET bottle, and a conveying means therefor that permit, in a constructionally simple manner, an inexpensive and effective improvement of the barrier properties thereof. To this end, the container is provided on its outside with a liquid coating agent by at least one rotating atomizer, and the coating is subsequently dried.
Abstract:
A kinetically sprayed magnetostrictive/magnetic material, comprising: magnetostriction particles; magnetic particles with coercivity; a ductile matrix for bonding the magnetostriction particles and magnetic particles with coercivity together; wherein an applied magnetic field will align the magnetic particles with coercivity and subsequently the magnetostriction particles such that the magnetostrictive material will produce a detectable change in the magnetostrictive/magnetic material when placed under an applied stress. A method of forming a composite coating of magnetostrictive/magnetic material on a substrate, comprising: spraying a powder mixture of magnetostriction particles, magnetic particles with coercivity and a ductile matrix in a spray gas stream flowing at supersonic velocity against the substrate to form a composite coating wherein an applied magnetic field will align the magnetic particles with coercivity and subsequently the magnetostriction particles such that the magnetostrictive material will produce a detectable change in the magnetostrictive/magnetic material when placed under an applied stress.
Abstract:
Coated bodies and a process, apparatus and article of manufacture for coating bodies in a non-fluidized state, including tablets, by producing an upward spray of coating fluid by means of a two-fluid nozzle as defined herein and contacting said bodies with said spray of coating fluid in a non-fluidized state; wherein, before contacting the bodies with said spray, providing the bodies with a spinning movement by acentral impact of gas jets directed upward to intersect the centerline of said spray; guiding the spinning bodies by said gas jets towards a central position over the two-fluid nozzle, thereby increasing the number of suspended bodies contacting the spray; providing atomization gas to the two-fluid nozzle in an amount less than the one which after moderation by means of muffling gas would scatter the bodies in the spray zone; and pneumatically muffling the atomization gas just above the nozzle to reduce the body scattering effect thereof.
Abstract:
A contact angle for a liquid on a substrate is set by a surface treatment process such that defects do not occur in a thin film pattern. In particular, the contact angle is set in a range of 15null to 45null. By doing this, it is possible to provide a device, a conductive thin film wiring device, and a method for forming a thin film pattern in which defects such as disconnections and short circuits can be prevented in a thin film pattern which is formed by an ink jet method.
Abstract:
In a coating device with a rotary atomizer, for preventing the condensation of spray cabin air on components cooled by the lower-pressure exhaust air of the drive turbine of the atomizer, a heating device is provided, which can heat air flowing through the atomizer or components in heat-conductive contact with the outlet path of the turbine exhaust air.
