Abstract: A domestic appliance may include a cabinet, a door, and a linear hinge coupling the door to the cabinet. The linear hinge may include a bearing assembly, an elongated shaft, a door linkage, and a cabinet linkage. The bearing assembly may be mounted to the cabinet. The elongated shaft may be received within the bearing assembly and slidable along a translation axis on the bearing assembly. The elongated shaft may define a first shaft pivot axis perpendicular to the translation axis and a second shaft pivot axis parallel to the first shaft pivot axis. The door linkage may couple the door to the elongated shaft. The door linkage may be pivotally connected to the elongated shaft at the first shaft pivot axis. The cabinet linkage may couple the cabinet to the elongated shaft. The cabinet linkage may be pivotally connected to the elongated shaft at the second shaft pivot axis.

Abstract: A combination door operator assembly and door, wherein the door operator assembly includes an operator unit mounted to the door on the pushing side thereof, an arm linkage having a driving arm and a driven arm, a second mounting bracket preferably on the frame of the door, a rechargeable power storage pack having at least one of a rechargeable battery and one or more capacitors, and a controller, for monitoring a speed and a position of the door, wherein when the door moves faster than a predetermined speed, the motor is used as a generator to charge the rechargeable power storage pack and the speed of the door is reduced.

Abstract: A power swing door drive actuator for moving a passenger swing door relative to a body portion of a motor vehicle. The power swing door actuator includes a housing, a motor operably mounted to the housing, and a leadscrew of a spindle drive mechanism rotatably driven by the motor for causing relative translational movement of a drive nut relative to the leadscrew which, in turn, results in the vehicle door swinging between open and closed positions in response to selective actuation of the motor. A first articulation joint unit couples an elongate extensible member fixed to the drive nut to the vehicle body while a second articulation joint unit couples the housing to the vehicle door.

Abstract: According to an aspect of the present invention, there is provided a refrigerator including a cabinet in which a storage compartment is formed; a refrigerator door for opening and closing the storage compartment; a door opening device having a push rod which may move from an initial position to a door opening position for opening the refrigerator door and a motor for providing power to the push rod; and a controller controlling the motor, wherein the controller controls the push rod to move to the door opening position while in close contact with the cabinet or the refrigerator door in order to open the refrigerator door, and controls voltage supply to the motor so that a time period when the push rod is moved to the door opening position is maintained for a certain time.

Abstract: A closing device includes an actuator mechanism and a hydraulic damper mechanism. The actuator mechanism includes a pushrod urged by a resilient member towards its extended position. The hydraulic damper mechanism includes a piston, a first rack and pinion gearing for converting the translational motion of the pushrod into a rotational motion of a first pinion, a transmission, which includes a second rack and pinion gearing, between the first pinion and the piston for transmitting and converting the rotational motion of the first pinion into a translational motion of the piston, a one-way valve allowing fluid flow from a first side to a second side of the cylinder cavity when opening the hinged member, and a restricted fluid passage between the first and second sides of the cylinder cavity. The transmission provides together with the pinions of the first and second rack and pinion gearings a reduction gearing between the pushrod and the piston so that the piston reciprocates over a smaller distance than the pushrod.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a door opening system for a domestic appliance (10) including at least one pivoting door (12). The door opening system comprises at least one door hinge (14) and at least one hook mechanism (16). The hook mechanism (16) includes a hook element (26) engaged or engageable with a recess (28) in a closed state of said door (12), so that the hook element (26) and the recess (28) form a snap-in mechanism. The hook element (26) is disengaged or disengageable from the recess (28) by operating a control element or said hook element (26). The door hinge (14) includes a stationary hinge part (18) and a pivoting hinge part (20). The stationary hinge part (18) is provided for a support structure of the domestic appliance (10), while the pivoting hinge part (20) is provided for the pivoting door (12). The stationary hinge part (18) is arranged or arrangeable horizontally inside or at the support structure of the domestic appliance (10). The stationary hinge part (18) comprises a first spring element (22) and a second spring element (24) provided for generating horizontal forces in the mounted state of the door hinge (14) at the domestic appliance (10). The first spring element (22) is provided for keeping the door (12) balanced within an outer opening angular range of said door (12). The second spring element (24) is provided for generating an opening force for the door (12) within an inner opening angular range, so that the door (12) is pushed into a partially opened state. The inner opening angular range extends between a closed state and the partially opened state of the door (12). The outer opening angular range extends between the partially opened state and a completely opened state of the door (12).

Abstract: A counterbalance assembly for an appliance hinge has a base including first and second spaced-apart side walls and a transverse face wall. A channel is located between the first and second side walls. First and second notch portions are respectively located in the first and second side walls. A rotating cam is supported on the base and has a camshaft that extends between the side walls and that is adapted for rotation about an axis of rotation, a first end located in the first notch portion and a second end located in the second notch portion. A biasing spring has an inner end engaged with the base and an outer end spaced from the base. A spring rod includes an outer end operatively coupled to the spring and an inner end operatively coupled to the lever. The lever also pivotally connects to the lobe of the cam. A damper assembly is connected to the base and having a piston which is moved between a first position and a second position by the lever contacting the piston. The piston damps movement of the counterbalance assembly.
