Abstract:
A recording control apparatus includes an attribute information reader, a medium determining unit, and a command transmitter. When a recording medium is removably loaded into a loading unit, the attribute information reader reads attribute information therefrom. On the basis of the attribute information, the medium determining unit determines whether or not the recording medium is a one-time recording medium capable of writing data once. If the recording medium is determined to be a one-time recording medium that has been set to a write-protected state in advance, the command transmitter transmits to the recording medium an unlock command for unlocking the write-protected state thereof.
Abstract:
An image processing apparatus and data erasing method make it possible to unrecoverably erase encrypted data recorded in an auxiliary storage device at high speed while reducing the load put on the CPU. Upon reception of a data erase request from a data utilizing process, the data requested to be erased is registered in a predetermined storage unit. The data registered in the storage is unrecoverably erased by overwriting, and an area in the auxiliary storage device in which the erased data was stored is released after the overwriting erasure process.
Abstract:
An information processing apparatus is provided, in which content and position information generated independently of each other are recorded in a recording medium. The apparatus includes a recording medium in which the content and the position information are recorded and a deletion unit deleting position information temporally associated with a piece of the content from the recording medium when the piece of content is deleted from the recording medium.
Abstract:
A digital multifunctional device 1 comprises an image reading unit 2, a hard disk 12, an image forming unit 6 and a device control unit 8. When there is input of a new image data through the image reading unit 2 while the device control unit 8 is invalidating a preceding image data stored in the hard disk 12, the invalidation by the device control unit 8 of the preceding image data in the hard disk 12 is interrupted, and the new image data being input is utilized to invalidate the preceding image data.
Abstract:
A method of controlling an image forming apparatus connected to at least one server on a network. The method includes receiving an edit command for image data stored in the server from a user, and controlling the image data to be edited according to the edit command.
Abstract:
An image recording apparatus records image files on a recording medium. The image recording apparatus automatically selects disused files and automatically deletes them at the appropriate timing. A storage device acquires an image file from, e.g., an imaging component or an external terminal and records the image file together with time information on a recording medium. A controller monitors the recording area of the recording medium and automatically deletes image files for which the time information is old in accordance with the monitored usage status of the recording area.
Abstract:
An image file imaged by a digital camera is stored in a memory card, and the digital camera sets the number of prints for each image file according to the digital print order format (DPOF) standard and records the number as a printing information file in the memory card. When the number of prints is set, an image file in which at least one frame is designated for printing is determined to have a read-only file property in order to prevent the image file from being erased against the designation for printing. There is provided a mode for collectively designating all frames for printing.
Abstract:
A recording medium for storing virtual deletion information, and recording and/or reproducing method and apparatus therefor are provided. The recording medium includes a first region having a plurality of still pictures, and a second region having first virtual deletion information for the still pictures, and still picture group information for separating the still pictures in the first region into a predetermined maximum number of groups in order to manage the still pictures at a group level, wherein the first virtual deletion information is within the still picture group information, and if the first virtual deletion information is set to a virtual delete state, the corresponding still picture is not to be reproduced. Accordingly, file extent information can be prevented from excessively increasing by maximally preventing a recording area from being scattered, when some of a data file are deleted by a user's request.

Abstract:
Even if the digital camera is inexpensive without the function of reproducing images, it can effectively use a memory capacity and has the function of responding to quick image-capturing, and important images can be recorded with higher priority. The digital camera comprises a priority selection switch for selecting priority of an image, and information about selected priority is recorded in association with the image when the image is recorded. For example, priority is ranked on three stages of “important”, “normal”, and “memo”. When a recording medium for storing image data has an insufficient memory capacity, control is exercised such that an image with priority lower than a newly captured image is automatically erased to record the new image. Further, a recorded image may be analyzed to automatically assign a low priority value to an image that may be damaged.
