Each peripheral device is connected to the parallel bus. The system also includes a control module that is connected to the parallel bus, the control module including memory that stores control data and telemetry data associated with each peripheral device, and an interface that controls access to addressable locations in memory over the parallel bus.
Abstract:
Techniques and architecture are disclosed for providing a laser system. In one specific example embodiment, the system includes a thulium-doped fiber laser coupled by silica glass fiber to a remote optical converter (ROC) including a Ho:YAG laser and, optionally, an optical parametric oscillator (OPO) utilizing zinc germanium phosphide (ZnGeP2; ZGP) or orientation-patterned gallium arsenide (OPGaAs). The fiber laser may emit a low-peak-power, continuous wave pump signal that pumps the Ho:YAG laser, which in turn emits a higher-peak-power, pulsed signal. When included, the OPO can be used to convert the resultant, pulsed signal to a longer wavelength (e.g., about 2-5 μm, or greater). In some cases, distributed architecture and reduced weight/bulk may be realized while eliminating the need to actively cool the ROC for operation, for example, over a broad temperature range (e.g., −55-125° C.). Also, methods of preparing high-peak-power, pulsed signals using such systems are disclosed.

On-board diagnostics for fleet maintenance is improved by embedding a microprocessor programmed with a prognostication algorithm on a vehicle.
Abstract:
A system and method for generating a low probability of detection (LPD) waveform is presented. The method modulates pre-modulated symbols using pulse-position modulation (PPM) to produce PPM modulated signals with a modulated in-phase (I) component and a modulated quadrature (Q) component. Next, frequency hopping is used to transmit the modulated I component at a randomized start time within a time slot and to transmit the modulated Q component at the randomized start time within the same slot. The modulated Q component does not overlap with the modulated I component. The method can also overlay transmission security (TRANSEC) pseudorandom (PN) overlay on the modulated Q component and the modulated I component before the modulated Q component and the modulated I component are transmitted.
Abstract:
A system for the vergence of images from a plurality of cameras, the system provides a first camera; a second camera disposed at some distance from that first camera; a focus adjustment whereby the focus of the first camera can be adjusted by a user; the focus adjustment being configured with a range finder whereby the distance from the first camera to a target is ascertained; a look up chart wherein divergence distance of images generated from the first camera from images of the second camera are provided for pre-calculated ranges; and a processor whereby the images generated by the first camera are superimposed on the images generated by the second camera by the divergence distance determined from the lookup.
Abstract:
A plurality of modules each including at least a pair of series connected power MOSFETs are configured between a plurality of DC voltage sources, and a plurality output terminals for connection to respective loads, are controlled for selectively applying power to the loads via time delay switching incorporating forward biased intrinsic diodes of the MOSFETs in a given current path during initial application of power to a load, whereby a predetermined period of time after turning on one of the series connected MOSFETs, the associated other MOSFET is turned on to shunt its intrinsic diode for reducing the resistance in the current path to maximize current flow. The configuration of the plurality of power MOSFETs is also controlled for selectively providing bi-directional current flow between said plurality of DC voltage sources.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a flexible ultracapacitor having a flexible cloth including an autotransformer-type connected switch made with nanoporous carbon electrodes impregnated by an electrolyte. Each of the nanoporous carbon electrodes may be configured to have a circuit. The circuit may include a first inductor and a second inductor. Each of the first inductor and the second inductor may have a first terminal and a second terminal. The second terminal of the first inductor may be coupled to the first terminal of the second inductor. A switch may be coupled between the first terminal of the first inductor and the second terminal of the second inductor.
Abstract:
A method for fabricating an image panel for a hyperspectral camera that is configured to scan a scene and obtain spectral image data over as defined range of wavelengths. At least one companion sensor is first fabricated on a planar imaging surface of a silicon die. At least as region of the silicon die is then back thinned to a diffraction thickness that is suitable for a diffraction slit. A diffraction slit is then formed in the thinned region so that the diffraction slit penetrates the silicon die in the thinned region, and the diffraction slit is co-planar with the imaging surface of the silicon die.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for applying a mid-IR graded microstructure to the end of an As2S3 optical fiber are presented herein. The method and apparatus transfer a microstructure from a negative imprint on a nickel shim to an As2S3 fiber tip with minimal shape distortion and minimal damage-threshold impact resulting in large gains in anti-reflective properties.
Abstract:
A system for enabling interoperability among various kinds of communications equipment and information transmission formats on the battlefield or during tactical missions. The system includes a multi-message translator (MMT) for translating a source text message having a first set of word fields defined according to a source message format, into a sink message having a second set of word fields defined according to a sink message format. The system also includes a voice bridging gateway (VBG) for bridging multiple voice communication networks having associated transmission protocols that are incompatible with one another. Dismounted soldiers obtain location based services including geo-referenced maps, and tactical communications including voice and text messaging, using smart phones or other lightweight COTS client devices that link through a personal networking node (PNN) server to one or both of the MMT and the VBG.
