A DOOR OPERATOR ADAPTED TO MOVE AN UPWARDLY ACTING DOOR ALONG TRACKS BETWEEN OPEN AND CLOSED POSITIONS. THE OPERATOR INCLUDES A CARRIAGE MOUNTED UPON A SUBSTANTIALLY HORIZONTAL RAIL EXTENDING PERPENDICULARLY AWAY FROM THE CLOSED POSITION OF THE DOOR. AN ENDLESS CHAIN IS ARRANGED IN AN ELONGATED LOOP EXTENDING ALONG THE RAIL AND SUPPORTED FOR MOVEMENT RELATIVE THERETO. ONE END OF THE LOOP CAN ROTATE A SHAFT MOUNTED ABOVE THE CLOSED POSITION OF THE DOOR. CABLES ARE CONNECTED BETWEEN THE SHAFT AND THE LOWER EDGE OF THE DOOR. DRIVE MEANS ON THE CARRIAGE ENGAGES THE CHAIN AND CAUSES THE CARRIAGE TO MOVE RELATIVE TO THE CHAIN AND THE RAIL. LINKAGE CONNECTS THE CARRIAGE TO THE DOOR AND COOPERATES WITH THE CABLES FOR OPENING AND CLOSING THE DOOR.

A SLIDING GATE STRUCTURE SUPPORTED AT ONE END BY ROLLERS ENGAGING TRACKS ON A FENCE STRUCTURE AND AT THE OTHER END BY A DRIVE UNIT HAVING A REVERSIBLE ELECTRIC MOTOR DRIVING A GROUND ENGAGING WHEEL AND A SECOND GROOVED WHEEL RIDING ON A TRACK DISPOSED ACROSS THE OPENING IN THE FENCE STRUCTURE. THE DRIVE UNIT IS RIGIDLY ATTACHED TO THE
GATE AND SUPPORTS THE OTHER END AND PROVIDES A MOUNTING SURFACE FOR A SOLENOID ACTUATED LATCHING DEVICE WHICH ENGAGES A LATCH MEMBER ATTACHED TO A GATE POST OF THE FENCE TO HOLD THE GATE IN THE CLOSED POSITION.

THIS ELECTROMOTIVE DRIVE IS SUITABLE FOR MOUNTING AT THE TOP OF A WINDOW TO PROVIDE POWER FOR AUTOMATIC RAISING AND LOWERING OF A VENETIAN BLIND. THE TRANSMISSION OF THE DRIVE ROTATES A SCREW OF WHICH IS MOUNTED A NUT. THIS NUT OPERATES A SWITCHING ROD TO SHUT OFF AN ELECTRIC MOTOR WHEN THE NUT HAS REACHED EITHER END OF ITS RANGE OF TRAVEL. LINKAGE MEANS ARE ALSO SUPPLIED EXTERNALLY PROTRUDING FROM THE HOUSING OF THE DRIVE. SHOULD THE VENETIAN BLIND BE RAISED BEFORE THE NUT SHUTS OF THE MOTOR, THE RAIL OF THE BLIND FORCES ITS SLATS AGAINST THE LINKAGE MEANS WHICH IS TURN OPERATES THE SWITCHING ROD TO SHUT OFF THE MOTOR EARLIER THAN WOULD BE ACHIEVED BY THE NUT.
