Abstract: Disclosed embodiments are related to beam management in cellular communication networks, and in particular, provide a new transmission (Tx) beamforming indication based on the flexible Tx beam-forming assignment on the corresponding reference signal configured in a transmission configuration indicator (TCI) state for downlink (DL) or spatial relation information in the uplink (UL). The Tx beam-forming on the reference signal of the TCI state configured for the DL physical channel/reference signal can be updated based on reported Tx beam in the UL or using UL measurements from Sounding Reference Signal (SRS) transmission. Similarly, spatial relation information configuration used to indicate Tx beam-forming in the UL, may be also updated based on the reference signal measurements in DL or by suing Downlink Control Information (DCI) based beam indication in a scheduling request indicator (SRI). Abstract: Techniques discussed herein can facilitate multi-transmission reception point (multi-TRP) operation for new radio (NR). One example apparatus may be employed at a user equipment (UE), and may comprise: an interface configured to enable the UE to communicate with two or more TRPs; and a processor that is configured to generate uplink control information (UCI) for each of the TRPs, schedule single or multiple uplink channels to carry the UCI, so that the UCI is transmitted individually or in combination to the TRPs via the interface, wherein the uplink channels comprise NR physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) and/or NR physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH). Techniques discussed herein also can facilitate demodulation reference signal design for short physical uplink control channel carrying more than 2-bit UCI for new radio.

Abstract: Communication signals using a first and a second frequency band in a wireless network is described herein. The first frequency band may be associated with a first beamwidth while the second frequency band may be associated with a second beamwidth. An apparatus may include receiver circuitry arranged to receive first signals in a first frequency band associated with a first beamwidth and second signals in a second frequency band associated with a second beamwidth, the first signals comprising a frame synchronization parameter and the second signals comprising frame alignment signals. The apparatus may further include processor circuitry coupled to the receiver circuitry, the processor circuitry arranged to activate or deactivate the receiver circuitry to receive the frame alignment signals based on the frame synchronization parameter. Abstract: Devices and methods of determining offsets for different eNBs in a dynamic switched CoMP network are generally described. A UE may receive, in an RRCConnectionReconfiguration message, DL parameter sets associated with different eNBs and having reference signal information for a PSS, SSS and DRS. The UE may receive reference signals based on the DL set associated with the eNB and determine a timing/frequency offset based on the reference signals. The offsets may be used to decode a dynamically switched PDSCH indicated by a PDCCH. The DL sets may indicate which PDCCH to detect or the PDCCH from the same eNB may be used and the PDSCH determined from a DCI in the PDCCH. A UL DCI may indicate which of UL parameter sets to use. The UL sets may indicate a reference signal to determine path loss and a timing advance value.

Abstract: Technology for an eNodeB operable to perform multiuser non-orthogonal superposition transmissions for multimedia broadcast multicast service (MBMS) is disclosed. The eNodeB can modulate a first physical multicast channel (PMCH) signal for MBMS with a first modulation and coding scheme (MCS). The eNodeB can modulate a second PMCH signal for MBMS with a second MCS. The eNodeB can multiplex the first PMCH signal and the second PMCH signal to form an aggregate PMCH signal. The eNodeB can transmit the aggregate PMCH signal to a plurality of UEs using multiuser non-orthogonal superposition for MBMS, wherein the first PMCH signal in the aggregate PMCH signal is transmitted using physical resource blocks (PRBs) that are partially or fully overlapped in time and frequency with PRBs of the second PMCH signal in the aggregate PMCH signal.

Abstract: Apparatuses and methods are disclosed for supporting a UE in reporting of a selection of an NZP CSI-RS resource to an eNB supporting FD-MIMO communication. Each NZP CSI-RS resource is associated with a unique NZP CRI (or ‘Beam Index’) on a given serving cell. The UE may select an NZP CSI-RS resource for CSI calculation and reporting to the eNB based on processed CSI-RS signals received at an antenna of the UE from the eNB of a serving cell of the UE based on a CSI-RS resource configuration for the UE signaled from the eNB. The UE may report a CRI and a CSI of the selected NZP CSI-RS resource to the eNB of the serving cell of the UE based on a CRI reporting configuration of the UE signaled from the eNB.
