Abstract:
Methods, systems, and devices are described for wireless communication at a UE. A user equipment (UE) may receive a control signal from a base station on resources of a first narrowband region. The UE may then identify a second narrowband region based on the control signal. In some cases a broadband carrier may be divided into an indexed set of narrowband regions, and the UE may identify an index using information contained in (implicitly or explicitly) in the control signal. The UE may communicate with the base station on resources of the second narrowband region. For example, a UE may receive a system information block (SIB) or a paging message, and perform a random access procedure using narrowband resources selected based on the SIB or paging message.
Abstract:
The present disclosure, for example, relates to one or more techniques for indicating a frame format for transmissions using unlicensed radio frequency spectrum bands. A UE may receive, from a base station, a frame format indicator associated with a transmission opportunity for transmissions in an unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band. The UE may determine a time-division duplexing (TDD) configuration for the transmission opportunity based at least in part on the frame format indicator.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and devices are described for increased wireless communications system capacity through hierarchical modulation of multiple transmission layers during certain transmission subframes in a wireless communications system. Various deployment scenarios may be supported that may provide communications modulated on both a base modulation layer as well as on an enhancement modulation layer that is superpositioned on the base modulation layer. Reference signals may be provided for channel estimation for both the base modulation layer and enhancement modulation layer.
Abstract:
Protection of transmission and reception of clear channel assessment (CCA)-exempt transmission (CET) is disclosed in which channel reserving signals or protection signals may be transmitted by the transmitter or receiver of the CET. The transmitted signals may be received by the neighboring access points that could potentially cause interference with the reception of the CET.
Abstract:
Techniques are described for wireless communication. One method includes identifying, by a first transmitter, a first contention access protocol timing for accessing an unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band, and aligning a second contention access protocol timing with the first contention access protocol timing, the second contention access protocol timing being used by the first transmitter for accessing the unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band.
Abstract:
Techniques are described for wireless communication. A first method includes transmitting a first signal to indicate accessing a first channel in a radio frequency spectrum band, and transmitting information with the first signal in the radio frequency spectrum band. A second method includes winning contention to access a radio frequency spectrum band, and after the winning contention to access the radio frequency spectrum band, transmitting a first signal to align a starting point of a second signal with a reference boundary associated with the radio frequency spectrum band. A third method includes winning contention to access a radio frequency spectrum band during a first frame period, the first frame selected from a plurality of different frame periods, and transmitting a signal at a periodicity during one or more subframes of the first frame period for each of the plurality of different frame periods.
Abstract:
Techniques are described for wireless communication. One method includes monitoring, by a first base station of a first operator, for uplink configuration information and downlink configuration information associated with a second base station of at least one second operator; identifying a transmission timing of one or more uplink transmissions to the second base station of the at least one second operator based at least in part on the uplink configuration information; and prohibiting access to an unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band by the first base station of the first operator during the identified transmission timing of the one or more uplink transmissions. Transmissions of the second base station of the at least one second operator in the unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band may be asynchronous to transmissions of the first base station of the first operator in the unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band.
Abstract:
A method of wireless communication includes configuring a small cell with activation parameters. The activation parameters include a new carrier type having a reduced periodicity. The method also includes configuring a UE with time restricted measurements. The time restricted measurements correspond to the new carrier type and the reduced periodicity. The method further includes receiving small cell signal measurements from the UE and initiating an activation sequence in response to the small cell signal measurements.
Abstract:
Channel and interference measurement in long term evolution (LTE)/LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) networks including unlicensed spectrum is discussed in which a user equipment (UE) detects a reference signal from a serving base station over a carrier of a shared spectrum for measurement. The reference signal may be a channel usage beacon signal (CUBS) transmitted by the serving base station prior to transmission or may be a specific channel state information (CSI) reference signal transmitted in the first subframe of a transmission frame. The UE generates a fast CSI feedback report based on the measured reference signal and transmits it to the serving base station. The fast CSI feedback report is received quickly enough by the serving base station such that the base station may apply the CSI feedback to additional transmissions in subsequent subframes within the same transmission frame.
Abstract:
Channel state information (CSI) feedback in long term evolution (LTE) and LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) networks including contention-based shared unlicensed spectrum is disclosed in which a user equipment (UE) identifies at least one carrier utilizing a contention based radio frequency spectrum. The UE detects a transmission signal indicative of clear channel assessment (CCA) result information for the carrier and determines whether a reference signal for channel state information measurement is present in a subframe based on the detected transmission signal. The UE would transmit a measurement report based on this presence determination of the reference signal.
