Abstract:
Parallel jobs comprise multiple tasks that can be executed in parallel by separate resources to produce an exit status for each task. The resource manager receives the jobs and dispatches the parallel tasks of the job together with task starters to a job launcher unit. The job launcher unit starts the task starters on the selected resources. Each task starter is associated with a task and commences execution of the task on the selected resource. At commencement of a task, the task starter sends the host and process identifier to the resource manager. At completion of the task, the task starters collect the exit status of the task from the associated resource and send the exit status of the task back to the resource manager. An external event unit associated with the resource manager receives the process identifier and exit status of the tasks from the task starter.
Abstract:
Reactive toners are printed by electrophotographic and electrographic printers. One or more of the toners may include reactive components. An additional toner, which may be a colorless toner, comprises reactive components. The toners comprising one or more colorants are used to from an image on a substrate. The additional toner is used to cover the entire image, although the additional toner may be printed over, or under, the image, to cover the image as the image is printed on the substrate. The reactive components of the additional toner provide a base that covers at least the entire image to improve adhesion of the image layer with the final substrate, particularly where substrates having rough surfaces, such as textiles, are used as the final substrate.
Abstract:
An optical processing device includes a polarization modulator operable to change a polarization state of an input optical signal based at least in part on a control voltage applied to a liquid crystal material associated with the polarization modulator. The control voltage is based at least in part on a temperature of the liquid crystal material.
Abstract:
An image is printed on a substrate by means of a computer driven printer using heat activated dyes, without activating the dyes during the process of printing onto the substrate. The dyes are subsequently activated by applying sufficient heat and pressure to the substrate to activate the dyes.
Abstract:
A two-stage power converter that dynamically adjusts to output current requirements includes a first stage regulator that provides power to a second stage regulator. The first stage can be a buck converter, and the second stage can be a multiple-phase buck converter. The output voltage of the first stage (intermediate bus voltage Vbus) is varied according to the load current to optimize conversion efficiency. To provide maximum efficiency, the Vbus voltage is increased as load current increases. The Vbus voltage provided by the first stage can be varied by duty cycle or operating frequency control. In another embodiment, the switching frequency of the second stage is varied as output current changes so that output current ripple is held constant. In an embodiment employing a multiple-phase buck converter in the second stage, the number of operating phases are varied as output current changes.
Abstract:
Alteration of voltage input to a voltage regulator output stage from a Vbus regulator stage in a two-stage voltage regulator provides optimal Vbus voltage placement for a wide range of current loads to increase voltage regulator efficiency and is particularly suited to CPUs having power-saving sleep modes of operation. An optimal voltage is selected or developed in response to information concerning operational mode or current consumption of the powered device. As a perfecting feature of one embodiment of the invention in which a discrete Vbus voltage is selected based on operational mode, the selected voltage is adjusted to further optimize the matching of the Vbus voltage placement to the load and provides a continuous range of voltages. In a second embodiment the entire Vbus positioning function is performed in response to current load information. A feed-forward arrangement is provided to avoid transient spikes as the Vbus voltage placement is altered.
Abstract:
A rectifier hub and associated cooling method provide increased cooling efficiency for rotating rectifier diodes in a dry cavity generator. The rectifier hub has an inner and an outer circumferential surface and includes at least one pair of flow passages, and at least one flow channel. Each pair of flow passages extends between the hub inner and outer circumferential surfaces, and each flow channel is formed in the hub outer circumferential surface and couples the pair of flow passages in fluid communication with one another. This configuration allows a cooling medium to flow directly across the rectifier hub and cool the rectifier diodes mounted within drive cavities formed in the hub.
Abstract:
This present invention describes an innovative solution in the area of indexing and searching binary files including various binary files such as multimedia files, including image files, mp3 files and other audio/video files from the public Internet. The invention introduces a way to index binary files such as multimedia files according to their content signatures, which uniquely identify themselves, and search for related files by walking through a graph database constructed during the index phase. The present invention can be used in a search engine and a download engine, as well as with text based index and search technologies. As a result, such extended usage will broaden a multimedia file's context and increase relevant accuracy of the keywords describing the context.
Abstract:
A power converter having a primary circuit (e.g. full bridge) and a secondary circuit (e.g. current doubler) has switches in the secondary circuit that are controlled by a drive circuit. The drive circuit is connected to a swing node in the primary circuit, and is powered by the swing node. The drive circuit has an isolation device such as a transformer to provide electrical isolation between the primary circuit and secondary circuit. The drive circuit provides a current source for driving the secondary switch gates, thereby reducing power consumption. The present drive circuit provides clean gate drive signals without noise and oscillations. The drive circuits of the invention are simple, and require only a few components.
