Abstract:
An effective amount of uncomplexed cyclodextrin, in the form of particles having particle sizes below about 12 microns, is incorporated into solid dryer-activated fabric conditioning compositions which are used in dryers to treat fabrics. The cyclodextrin is thereby attached to the fabrics and subsequently provides effective control of odors when they come in contact with the treated fabric. The fabric conditioning compositions can be attached to substrates to prepare an article of manufacture or be in the form of detergent compatible particles, for use with conventional laundry detergents.
Abstract:
A detergent composition containing efficient enduring perfume composition is provided. Specifically, the detergent composition comprises: an enduring perfume composition comprising at least about 70% of enduring perfume ingredients. The perfume is substantially free of halogenated fragrance materials and nitromusks. The composition also contains from about 0.01% to about 95% of a detergent surfactant system, preferably containing anionic and/or nonionic detergent surfactants. The compositions can be in the form of granules, liquids, pastes, bars, etc.
Abstract:
Basic cleaning compositions using toxicologically-acceptable ingredients for cleaning fruits and vegetables are provided. Liquid formulations comprising detergent surfactant, such as oleate, alcohol ethoxylates, etc., and neutralized phosphoric acid are sprayed onto apples, lettuce and the like to remove soil and unwanted deposits, especially wax. Articles for applying the compositions to produce by spraying are disclosed. Use of the compositions for disinfectancy/sanitization of produce and cleaning/disinfectancy/sanitization of non-food inantimate surfaces are disclosed.
Abstract:
The present invention comprises compositions and articles such as catamenials, diapers, pantiliners, adult incontinence garments, and underarm shields which minimize odor caused by body fluids and which provide a pleasant scent signal to indicate that the odor is being removed. This scent signal, provided by cyclodextrin/perfume inclusion complexes and/or matrix perfume microcapsules, assures the wearer that the product is working.
Abstract:
An effective amount of uncomplexed cyclodextrin, in the form of particles having particle sizes below about 5 microns, is incorporated into solid dryer-activated fabric conditioning compositions which are used in dryers to treat fabrics.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a stable, aqueous odor-absorbing composition, for use on inanimate surfaces. The composition comprises from about 0.1% to about 5%, by weight of the composition, of solubilized, water-soluble, uncomplexed cyclodextrin, an effective amount of a solubilized, water-soluble, antimicrobial preservative having a water-solubility of greater than about 0.3%, optional perfume; and an aqueous carrier. The composition is essentially free of any material that would soil or stain fabric and has a pH of greater than about 3. The composition can be incorporated into a spray dispenser to create an article of commerce that can facilitate treatment of articles and/or surfaces with uncomplexed cyclodextrin solutions of a level that is effective yet is not discernible when dried on the surface.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to an aqueous composition for reducing malodor impression. The composition comprises from about 0.01% to about 1%, by weight of the composition, of perfume wherein the perfume preferably comprises ingredients having a Clog P of 3 or smaller. Optionally, but preferably, the composition comprises from about 0.1% to about 5%, by weight of the composition of, water-soluble cyclodextrin, from about 0.1% to about 10%, by weight of the composition, of water-soluble metallic salt, from about 0% to about 3%, by weight of the composition, of solubilizing aid. The composition is essentially free of any material that would soil or stain fabric and contains less than about 5%, by weight of the composition of low molecular weight monohydric alcohols.
Abstract:
An effective amount of active/cyclodextrin complex, in the form of particles having particle sizes below about 12 microns, is incorporated into solid consumer product compositions. The complexes provide fast release of the active when they are wetted even when the amount of water available to effect release of the active is limited as in personal use compositions like drugs, foods, and cosmetics where active release is typically effected by body fluids. Preferred actives include perfumes, flavors, and pharmaceutical materials that are used by consumers.
Abstract:
Substantially waterless self-emulsifiable biodegradable chemical softening compositions are provided comprising a mixture of an ester-functional quaternary ammonium compound and a polyhydroxy compound. Preferred biodegradable ester-functional quaternary ammonium compounds include diesterdialkyl dimethyl ammonium salts such as diester ditallow dimethyl ammonium chloride, diester di(touch hydrogenated)tallow dimethyl ammonium chloride and diester di(hydrogenated)tallow dimethyl ammonium chloride. Preferred polyhydroxy compounds are selected from the group consisting of glycerol, polyglycerols having a weight average molecular weight from about 150 to about 800 and polyoxyethylene glycols and polyoxypropylene glycols having a weight average molecular weight from about 200 to about 4000. The substantially waterless self-emulsifiable biodegradable chemical softening compositions are prepared by mixing the ester-functional quaternary ammonium compound with the polyhydroxy compound at a specific temperature range wherein the polyhydroxy compound is miscible with the ester-functional quaternary ammonium compound. The resulting stable solid or concentrated fluid mixture can then be economically shipped to the consumer or ultimate user. The ultimate users of the chemical softening composition simply dilute the mixture with a liquid carrier (e.g., water) to form an aqueous dispersion suitable for treating fibrous cellulosic material. The substantially waterless self-emulsifiable biodegradable chemical softening compositions disclosed herein are primarily intended for softening disposable paper products such as tissues and towels.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to compositions and articles such as catamenials, diapers, pantiliners, paper towels, tissues, underarm shields, etc., which minimize odor caused from body fluids through the incorporation of an effective amount of cyclodextrin, having a particle size of less than 12 microns. Combinations of small particle size cyclodextrins with other odor-controlling materials are also disclosed.
