Abstract:
A device for the back support of the first run weld in the automatic butt-welding of two pipes held together by the two circumferential facing sets of radial pistons of an internal connection. The connector includes a set of independent copper pads of trapezoidal shape disposed in the form of a ring and fixed, with their bases alternately inverted, on a corresponding underlying set of pad support elements idly supported by respective horizontal pins rigid with support blocks which are resiliently supported by one of said circumferential sets of radial pistons of said internal connector by means of radial thrust springs. The pads are kept resiliently and constantly pressed against each other in the manner of a ring along their inclined sides by respective horizontal thrust springs supported by said horizontal pins and acting alternately on opposite faces of said pad support elements. The trapezoidal copper pads are fixed to the respective pad support elements by screws which are inserted into the width of their bases.
Abstract:
A device for and method of supporting a section of submerged pipeline over depressed portions of the sea bed such as ditches, fissures and the like, comprising an assembly of a pipe-clamping mechanism and two or more posts associated therewith, which are drivable into the sea bottom.Hydraulically powered means also provided for manipulating the clamping mechanism and means are further provided for lowering and raising the assembly. A cheap, safe and reliable device and method are provided which is an improvement over conventional techniques which generally provide sand bags under the pipe section suspended over a depression in the sea bottom.
Abstract:
Apparatus which may be mounted upon a lay barge to weld an end of a pipe spool to an end of a pipeline used under water, includes a stand fixed to the pipeline to support and secure its outer end, a pipe spool support which may hold a spool in coaxial relationship with the pipeline and with one end abutting the outer end of the pipeline, a laser positioned to direct a beam of coherent radiation along the axis of the pipeline, a reflection system including a mirror mounted for movement through an arc of 360.degree. in the path of the laser beam to reflect that beam radially on the abutting ends of the pipeline and pipe spool, and a laser energy source for generating a beam of sufficient intensity to weld together the abutting ends of the pipeline and the pipe spool.
Abstract:
A machine for applying at least one cable to a pipeline comprises: a frame extending along a longitudinal axis; a gripping and moving device mounted on the frame and configured to couple the machine around the pipeline and move the machine along the pipeline in a travel direction parallel to the longitudinal axis; and a cable application equipment comprising a rotating open ring structure, which is configured to rotate with respect to the frame and around the pipeline when the machine is gripping the pipeline; and an unwinding device for the controlled unwinding of a reel of cable; unwinding device being mounted on rotating open ring structure.
Abstract:
An apparatus for coupling pipe sections into a body of water has a frame comprising an elongated portion, which extends along a longitudinal axis and is configured to be arranged within a first pipe section; an alignment device, which is supported by the elongated portion of the frame and is configured to be at least partially inserted inside a second pipe section so as to align the first pipe section with the second pipe section; and a locking device, which is supported by the elongated portion of the frame and is configured to lock the position of the first pipe section with respect to the second pipe section when the first pipe section is aligned with the second pipe section.
Abstract:
A riser termination connecting a steel riser duct to an I-tube or J-tube connecting interface of a floating unit has an upper hang off portion, lower coupling adapter, steel termination conduit having an upper conduit end rigidly connected to the upper hang off portion, and lower conduit end connected to an adjacent conduit section of the riser duct. The termination conduit extends axially slidable through the coupling adapter. A cylindrical bearing seat inside the coupling adapter defines a bearing seat diameter and axis. An annular rounded bearing body has a bearing body diameter and protrudes outward from the termination conduit inside the bearing seat, the bearing body diameter being smaller than the bearing seat diameter to provide a unilateral gap and allow relative axial sliding and rotation. The termination conduit includes a variable cross-section portion having an external diameter and wall thickness tapering from the bearing body.
Abstract:
A system for levelling and gripping a jacket leg into a hollow foundation pile has a levelling assembly for adjusting the longitudinal axis of a jacket leg partially inserted in a hollow foundation pile with an actuation group arranged about the jacket leg and configured to exert a force parallel to the longitudinal axis between the upper edge of the hollow foundation pile and the jacket leg and selectively attachable to the jacket leg and recoverable for further use in another levelling assembly; and a gripping assembly for locking the jacket leg in a designated position with respect to the hollow foundation pile once leveled.
Abstract:
A manipulator device to apply modules around a pipeline during assembly has two jaws mobile between an open and a closed position and configured to house the respective portions of the module, and an articulated mechanism having a plurality of degrees of freedom to place the jaws in a loading position and in a position wherein the jaws are aligned with the pipeline during assembly.
Abstract:
A stability frame for the installation of a wind turbine on an offshore substructure, wherein the wind turbine comprises a tower configured to be anchored to a rigging assembly below the barycenter of the wind turbine, has a main body configured to be mounted about the upper part of the tower; and a plurality of guides, which extend outwardly from the main body and are configured for constraining parts of the rigging assembly so as to laterally support the wind turbine by the rigging assembly.
Abstract:
A system to convey a fluid, in particular a fluid containing hydrocarbons, has a first pipeline, which is made of an electrically conductive material and has an internal diameter; a second pipeline, which is made of an electrically conductive material, has an external diameter smaller than the internal diameter, and is placed inside the first pipeline at a distance from the first pipeline so as to form an annular gap between the first and second pipeline; an electrically conductive layer placed in the annular gap at a distance from the first pipeline; an electrically insulating layer placed between the second pipeline and the electrically conductive layer; and a power source to apply an electrical potential difference between the second pipeline and the electrically conductive layer.
