Abstract: A device may determine that an unlicensed radio frequency (RF) spectrum band is available for a communication. The device may transmit a first transmission indicator that indicates that the device is transmitting information via the unlicensed RF spectrum band. The first transmission indicator may be associated with a first radio access technology. The device may transmit a second transmission indicator that indicates that the device is transmitting information via the unlicensed RF spectrum band. The second transmission indicator may be associated with a second radio access technology that is different from the first radio access technology.

Abstract: Techniques are described for wireless communication. A first method includes sensing an indication of first radio access technology (RAT) communications occupying a shared radio frequency spectrum band; and configuring, in response to the sensing, at least one parameter of a second RAT used by a device to contend for access to the band. A second method includes randomly selecting a number from a range of numbers extending between a lower bound and an upper bound; contending for access to a shared radio frequency spectrum band by performing an extended clear channel assessment (ECCA) procedure over a plurality of CCA slots, the plurality of CCA slots including a first number of CCA slots equal to the upper bound; and winning contention for access to the band after determining, while performing the ECCA procedure, that the band is available for a second number of CCA slots equal to the randomly selected number.

Abstract: Mitigation of inter-base station resynchronization loss in wireless networks including contention-based shared frequency spectrum is discussed. Aspects of such mitigation provide for base stations entering into an idle mode when a transmission opportunity occurs in a radio frame of the next resynchronization occasion. Additional aspects provide for the base station to signal a flexible listen before talk (LBT) frame length to the user equipment (UE), either with or without explicit signaling of the downlink-uplink division. Further aspects provide for the base station to signal a reset indication to UEs that will prompt the UEs to monitor for downlink channel reserving signals prior to the current LBT frame ending by the resynchronization occasion.

Abstract: Joint aspects of coordinated multiple (CoMP) operations is discussed between multiple entities that may be in different CoMP clusters or even deployed by different operators. Participating base stations obtain channel related information such as sounding reference signals (SRS), channel state information (CSI), and the like from one or more neighbor user equipments (UE) served by a different base station. The base station determines a channel estimate at the neighbor UEs using the channel related information and selects a beamforming vector and schedules downlink transmissions to a served UE based on the channel estimates incorporating the channels of the other neighbor UEs. The selected beamforming vectors and transmission schedules minimizes the interference at the neighbor UEs.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) may monitor a narrowband (e.g., a single carrier, anchor carrier, etc.) for a control message that includes a grant for downlink data transmissions. The narrowband containing the control message may be a portion of a system bandwidth. The UE may then monitor a wideband (e.g., all or multiple carriers of the system bandwidth) for data according to the control message. Monitoring the wideband may include additional or alternate circuitry being powered (e.g., receiver circuit switching) to enable reception on an increased range of frequency spectrum. In some examples, a gap or narrowband data transmission may be scheduled between the control message and the grant to allow grant processing and receiver circuitry switching at the UE. In some cases, the control message and data transmission may be received in the same or different transmission time intervals (TTIs).

Abstract: Techniques for wireless communications over a shared radio frequency spectrum band, may include techniques for transmitting uplink data transmissions using allocated uplink resources. Allocated uplink resources may include an uplink channel comprising a number of allocated interlaces of resource blocks (RBs) for use by a user equipment (UE). An incoming data stream may be processed and data separated into each of the allocated interlaces of RBs for the UE. Such separation may be through demultiplexing the data stream to obtain data for the allocated interlaces of RBs. The demultiplexed data may be mapped onto associated resource elements associated with the allocated interlaces of RBs, and transmitted. Different types of uplink channels, such as a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH), physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) and/or a physical random access channel (PRACH) may be allocated to interlaces of RBs in one or more subframes of a transmitted radio frame.

Abstract: Aspects described herein relate to configuring a discontinuous receive (DRX) mode in wireless communications. A transmission burst can be received over a communication frame, wherein the transmission burst includes a scheduling indication. A DRX OFF mode can be entered to suspend communication resources during at least an off period corresponding to a portion of a time period for the transmission burst based at least in part on the scheduling indication. A DRX ON mode can be entered to activate the communication resources during an on period corresponding to another portion of the time period subsequent to the off period defined for the transmission burst or a different time period subsequent to the time period defined for the transmission burst based at least in part on the scheduling indication.

Abstract: Uplink waveforms for operating long term evolution (LTE) in an unlicensed band (i.e., long term evolution-unlicensed (LTE-U) communication) are disclosed. Carrier aggregation (CA) and standalone (SA) are disclosed. LTE on the licensed channel may provide both control and data, LTE on the unlicensed channel may provide data. Managing variable transmission time interval (TTI) continuous transmission is disclosed for transmission over multiple subframes of an unlicensed carrier in LTE-U. Listen-before-talk (LBT) requirements of unlicensed carriers provide for additional channel occupancy constraints when scheduling resources for multiple UEs for variable TTI continuous uplink transmissions over multiple subframes. A joint control channel is disclosed that provides control information for all of the potentially available subframes to be scheduled for the uplink transmissions. In addition to management of the variable TTI continuous transmissions, adjustments to uplink signal parameters are also disclosed that address the constraints due to the LBT requirements of unlicensed carriers.
