Abstract: Some techniques and apparatuses described herein permit a user equipment (UE) to signal a capability corresponding to a number of active beams (e.g., active uplink beams) to a base station so that the UE may be appropriately configured, and so that the UE may communicate with the base station accordingly. Furthermore, some techniques and apparatuses described herein permit a UE and/or a base station to apply one or more rules and/or conditions to assist with ensuring that a UE capability, corresponding to a number of active beams (e.g., active uplink beams), is not violated, or to prevent the UE from communicating on a beam that is invalid due to a violated UE capability. Furthermore, some techniques and apparatuses described herein permit a UE and a base station to perform a beam management procedure upon beam activation to ensure that a beam is of sufficient quality for communications.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may transmit, to a base station, a request for uplink reference signal resources for a beam training procedure. The UE may receive, in response to the transmitted request, control signaling identifying the uplink reference signal resources for the beam training procedure. The UE may transmit, using a set of multiple of beams, reference signals on the identified uplink reference signal resources and receive, in response to the transmitted reference signals, an indication of beam parameters for a beam at the UE. The UE may communicate with the base station using the beam at the UE according to the beam parameters.

Abstract: An apparatus may be a user equipment (UE) or a component thereof. The apparatus may be further configured to generate, based on the measurement information, first predicted information, wherein the first predicted information corresponds to at least one beam with which to communicate with the base station. The apparatus may be further configured to determine, based on the first predicted information, that one or more conditions are satisfied. The apparatus may be further configured to transmit, to the base station based on the determination, a first report including second predicted information, wherein the second predicted information includes the first predicted information or the second predicted information is a subset of the first predicted information.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for standalone sidelink beam failure recovery. A method performed by a first user equipment includes communicating, while operating in a sidelink discontinuous reception (DRX) mode, with a second UE on a first communications link between the first UE and the second UE; transmitting, during an awake state of the sidelink DRX mode, at least one beam failure detection reference signal of a plurality of beam failure detection reference signals associated with the first communications link, wherein a periodicity of the awake state of the sidelink DRX mode is based on a periodicity for transmitting the plurality of beam failure detection reference signals; and detecting that the first communications link between the first UE and the second UE has failed based on the at least one beam failure detection reference signal.
