    Abstract: A printing material cartridge comprises: a memory device; a plurality of first terminals through which a power source voltage and signals for operating the memory device are supplied from a printing apparatus; and a plurality of second terminals to be used for detecting attachment conditions of the printing material cartridge in a cartridge attachment unit. The plurality of first terminals have a plurality of first contact portions that get in contact with corresponding apparatus-side terminals when the printing material container is properly attached to the cartridge attachment unit. The plurality of second terminals have a plurality of second contact portions that get in contact with corresponding apparatus-side terminals when the printing material container is properly attached to the cartridge attachment unit. The plurality of first and second contact portions are arranged so as to form a first row and a second row. Four contact portions among the plurality of second contact portions are placed at both ends of the first and second rows, respectively.

    Abstract: The method for archiving a document includes a step of encryption of the document with a symmetric key, a step of transmission of said encrypted document to an archiving operator, and a step of transmission of the symmetric encryption key of said document to an escrow operator distinct from the archiving operator.     Abstract: The invention relates to the design of layouts for a room in which a user wishes to position elements figuring in a collection of catalogs. Prior art systems only allow incremental construction by making direct selections from one or more catalogs. The inventive system and procedure allow rapid, overall construction of several solutions satisfying a certain number of constraints determined by the room, the user or the distributor of the equipment to be positioned, as well as rules derived from experience in the field of the equipment concerned. The method is subdivided into the steps of spatial analysis, definition of layout templates, selection of candidates from the collection of catalogs and optimization of the positioning. The system permits simultaneous visualization in three dimensions of optimum solutions and the printing of two-dimensional assembly drawings. The procedure and the system are preferably applicable to kitchen layouts.

    Abstract: A pest trap, such as for flies, includes a disposable bag with a lure therein, and a sealing mechanism set at or near the top of the bag. The sealing mechanism engages with a removable top, which covers a canister. The bag with sealing mechanism is connected to the top, and then the top is placed on the canister, with the disposable bag in the canister. Once the bag has become filled with pest insects, the sealing mechanism is activated, which seals the top of the bag and separates the bag from the top. The top can then be removed from the canister, and the canister upended to dump the disposable bag into the garbage.

    Abstract: A probe cover for medical thermometer has a matching feature for preventing its use with an incompatible thermometer. A mechanical matching feature of the probe cover includes at least one of a fold, a step, or a series of holes or indentations that are respectively matched to a ridge, a valley or series of pins formed on the front end of a compatible thermometer. When applied to the compatible thermometer, the mechanical matching feature permits the probe cover to be fully seated on and retained by the probe, thereby placing the thermometer in condition for use. Alternatively, an opto-electronic matching feature of the probe cover includes a reflective layer for use with an opto-electronic detection circuit of a compatible thermometer. When applied to the compatible thermometer, the opto-electronic detection detects the reflective layer and places the compatible thermometer in an operational state for use.
