Abstract: A mechanism is provided for invoking a multi-library application on a multiple processor system, wherein the multiple processor system comprises a Power Processing Element (PPE) and a plurality of Synergistic Processing Element (SPE). Applications including multi-libraries run in the memory of the PPE. The mechanism comprises maintaining the status of each SPE in the application running on the PPE, where there are SPE agents for capturing the instructions from the PPE in the SPEs that have been started. In response to a request for invoking a library, the PPE determines whether the number of available SPEs for invoking the library is adequate based on the current status of SPEs. If the number of available SPEs is adequate, the PPE sends a run instruction to selected SPEs. After finishing the invocation of all libraries, the PPE sends termination instructions to all started SPEs. IBM confidential

Abstract: An invoking request processing method in distributed system. The method makes a judgment according to the interface performance of an invoking object, and transforming an invoking request being sent to an intermediate object into a transferring request, which makes the intermediate object only needing to perform the transferring operation for the invoking request. The actual implemental object directly returns the result to the requesting party. And an corresponding distributed system, distributed server and object implementing module are provided. The requesting party may directly obtain the implement result from the actual implemental object by launching only one invocation, which enhanced the requesting efficiency. Meanwhile the intermediate object only needs to implement the transferring interface, which simplifies the development difficulty of the intermediate object.

Abstract: A glass-ceramic for substrate of magnetic disks having high strength can be obtained by subjecting to heat treatment a base glass comprising, in terms of weight percent of their oxides, from 65% to 80.0% of SiO2, from 0.5% to 5.0 % of Al2O3, from 13.0% to 19.0% of Li2O, from 1.0% to 7.0% of P2O5, from 0.5% to 10.0% of Y2O3 and from 0.2% to 2.0% of at least one of Sb2O3 and As2O3, and the glass-ceramic comprises Li2O·2SiO2 as the main crystal phase. The glass-ceramic has a bending strength of 230-36O Mpa and a surface roughness of less than 10 Angstroms after final polishing, and is thus suitable for use as substrate of magnetic disk. A process for producing the glass-ceramic is also provided.
