Abstract:
The disclosure describes a printed circuit board (PCB) for use in an electronic device. The PCB comprises: a top side; a bottom side; an edge between the top side and the bottom side; a cavity from the top side to the bottom side; a region on the top side for mounting an electronic device; and a connector for receiving connections from the electronic device. In the PCB, the connector is located on either the bottom side or the edge of the side of the PCB. The electronic device can be a display module.
Abstract:
Apparatus for applying sheet material to framework elements comprises elongate support means for sheet material and means for attachment of said support means to framework elements, in which the elongate support means comprise a base member having upstanding stud members for engagement in use with pre-formed holes formed in the sheet material and a capping member for applying over said base member to apply out-of-plane tensioning deformation to said sheet material, in which the capping member includes groove formations for receiving the edge of sheet material formed as a keder.
Abstract:
A method for providing a hot spot filter for a light guide is provided by taking an image of the light output pattern of an illuminated light guide. The hot spot filter may be a film, a layer, or an additional liquid crystal display dedicated to attenuating bright spots from the light guide. The hot spot filter may be incorporated into the image display by adjusting the grey scale of individual pixels to provide sufficient compensation.
Abstract:
A dispensing closure, in accordance with one aspect of the present disclosure, includes a closure shell of plastic construction having a skirt for mounting on a container neck finish. An insert of plastic construction different from and more rigid than the shell includes a mid portion mounted to the shell, a base with the skirt for sealing engagement with a container neck finish when the closure is mounted on the neck finish, a tip extending from the mid portion and a through-passage for dispensing product from within the container. An overcap is provided for removable receipt over the tip, and preferably is of one-piece integrally molded construction with the shell and flexibly tethered to the shell. The base of the insert preferably is constructed for sealing engagement with the inside surface of the container neck finish, the end surface of the container neck finish and/or the outside edge of the container neck finish.
Abstract:
The present invention provides compounds and methods that can be used to convert the intermediate halomethyl ketones (HMKs), e.g., chloromethyl ketones, to the corresponding S,S- and R,S-diastereomers. More particularly, the present invention provides: (1) reduction methods; (2) inversion methods; and (3) methods involving the epoxidation of alkenes. Using the various methods of the present invention, the R,S-epoxide and the intermediary compounds can be prepared reliably, in high yields and in high purity.

Abstract:
A method for reducing cross-talk on a liquid crystal display begins by receiving pixel data defining an image comprising a plurality of pixels; the received pixel data includes an intensity value associated with each pixel. The image is compressed by reducing the range of the intensity values of all the pixels in the image; the compressing step comprising arithmetically adjusting the intensity values of the pixels. Lines in the compressed image that are disposed to create cross-talk are identified. The image is then decompressed by applying a scale factor to the adjusted intensity value associated only with the pixels in the identified lines. The scale factor is selected such that a display image rendered on a liquid crystal display from the pixel data of the decompressed image has less cross-talk than a display image rendered on a liquid crystal display from the received pixel data.
Abstract:
A touchscreen liquid crystal display, method for using a liquid crystal display as a user input, and a mobile electronic device are provided. The touchscreen liquid crystal display comprises: a liquid crystal display having a viewing surface and including a plurality of parallel first electrodes located on one side of a liquid crystal containing area and overlapping with a plurality of parallel second electrodes located on an opposite side of the liquid crystal containing area, the first and second electrodes overlapping to form an array of liquid crystal pixel elements, at least some of the first electrodes being displaceable towards the second electrodes in response to external pressure applied to the viewing surface; a driver circuit coupled to the first and second electrodes for driving the electrodes for selectively controlling a display state of the display pixel elements; and a measurement circuit coupled to the electrodes for measuring display pixel element voltages for at least some of the display pixel elements formed by the first electrode, and for each display pixel element for which a display pixel element voltage is measured, comparing the measured voltages to reference voltages and determining a relative force of the external pressure on the viewing surface based on the measured voltages.

The present invention is directed to certain hydroxamate derivatives that are useful in the treatment of hepatitis C. These compounds are also inhibitors of histone deacetylase and are therefore useful in the treatment of diseases associated with histone deacetylase activity. Pharmaceutical compositions and processes for preparing these compounds are also disclosed.
