Abstract:
A heat exchanger arrangement, for example for an internal combustion engine, having a brazed radiator block (1) which has flow paths (10) formed from pairs of plates and has flow ducts (3) between the plate pairs (P), wherein in each case at least one plate (11) of each plate pair has a plate elongation (12), and wherein the brazed radiator block is arranged in a housing (2) and, at its circumference, is sealed off with respect to the housing. To improve the sealing action between the radiator block (1) and the housing (2), it is provided according to the invention that the plate elongations (12) are formed such that a prescribed dimension of the brazed radiator block (1) can be set by means of deformation of the plate elongations (12).
Abstract:
A heat exchanger includes first and second sets of parallel arranged tubes. The first set of tubes extends along a first arcuate path, the second set of tubes extends along a second arcuate path, and each one of the second set of tubes is aligned in a common plane with a corresponding one of the first set of tubes. Corrugated fin segments are arranged in spaces between adjacent tubes, and crests and troughs of the corrugated fin segments are joined to broad and flat faces of the tubes. In making the heat exchanger, the material of the corrugated fin segment is intermittently slit to define breaking points prior to arranging the corrugated fin segment between the tubes.
Abstract:
A liquid to refrigerant heat exchanger is provided having a stack of nested plates with fluid flow passages defined between the plates. The stack includes a condenser portion and a subcooler portion. A base plate at a bottom end of the stack has a refrigerant outlet port and a receiver bottle joined to it. A receiver flow path extends through a structural connection joining the receiver bottle to the base plate to allow for fluid flow between an internal volume of the receiver bottle and the condenser portion. Another receiver flow path extends through another structural connection to allow for fluid flow between an internal volume of the receiver bottle and the subcooler portion.
Abstract:
A stub connection for a heat exchanger that is arranged in a housing and has a stack including plates and fins. The housing consists of housing parts which can be joined together, and at least one first stub for a first heat-exchanging medium being integrated directly into the housing. The stub connection also includes at least one second stub for a second heat-exchanging medium that extends to outside the housing. The at least one second stub is configured for the connection of a line and is integrated directly or indirectly into the housing.
Abstract:
An evaporative heat exchanger includes first and second stacked plates forming a first fluid flow path between a first end and a second end. The first stacked plate defines a plane. Third and fourth stacked plates define a second fluid flow path. A fluid flow plate is positioned between the first and second stacked plates, and has a plurality of flow channels extending substantially parallel to the plane between the first end and the second end. At least one of the first and second stacked plates defines slots that form a portion of the first fluid flow path so that fluid flowing along the first fluid flow path flows along the flow channels in the first direction, then flows along at least one of the slots, then flows into adjacent flow channels and then along the adjacent flow channels in a second direction parallel to the first direction.
Abstract:
Methods for producing slots in tube walls are described and illustrated, along with devices for producing slots in tube walls. In some cases, a first number of punches arranged in a row pierce through the tube wall and in so doing produce slots, followed by another number of punches piercing through the tube wall in such a way that the slots produced by the first number of punches alternate with respect to the slots produced by the second number of punches. Also, in some cases an internal support is used, whereby small slots are first produced in the tube wall while the internal support is within the tube. After the internal support is removed, the slots are widened to finished dimensions. The internal support can include upper and lower parts designed to engage one another in a sawtooth or undulating manner.
Abstract:
A fuel cell system includes a plurality of solid oxide fuel cells arranged in a fuel cell stack, an integrated heat exchanger/reformer operable to partially reform an anode feed prior to entry into the fuel cell stack, an anode tailgas oxidizer, and an offgas flow path extending away from an anode side of the fuel cell stack and having a first branch to selectively combine offgas from the anode side of the fuel cell stack with fuel from a fuel source to comprise the anode feed to the fuel cell stack and a second branch to supply offgas from the anode side of the fuel cell stack to the anode tailgas oxidizer. The integrated heat exchanger/reformer transfers heat from the oxidized offgas from the anode tailgas oxidizer to the anode feed before the anode feed enters the anode side of the fuel cell stack. The offgas from the anode tailgas oxidizer provides the sole heat source for the anode feed traveling through the integrated heat exchanger/reformer.
Abstract:
A fan shroud assembly mounts a radiator to a vehicle frame. The fan shroud assembly includes a fan shroud, a first frame bracket for mounting the fan shroud to the vehicle frame, and a second frame bracket for mounting the fan shroud to the vehicle frame. The first frame and second brackets include a bottom wall and a back wall. The fan shroud includes: an air chamber wall defining an air chamber and configured to support the radiator; an air outlet at a first side of the air chamber wall; an air inlet at a second side of the air chamber wall opposite from the first side; a first section of the air chamber wall extending between the air inlet and the air outlet; and a second section of the air chamber wall extending between the air inlet and the air outlet.
