摘要： An apparatus for engaging an electrical conductor comprises a gripping contact having a plurality of fingers, where the plurality of fingers has a substantially conical outer surface. A contact receptacle has a substantially conical inner surface. A tension member urges the gripping contact toward the contact receptacle such that interaction between the substantially conical outer surface and the substantially conical inner surface forces the plurality of fingers to engagingly compress the electrical conductor placed between the fingers. A method of engaging an electrical conductor comprises inserting an electrical conductor between a plurality of fingers of a gripping contact, where the plurality of fingers has a substantially conical outer surface. The substantially conical outer surface of the gripping contact is urged to interact with a substantially conical inner surface of a contact receptacle such that the interaction forces the plurality of fingers to engage the electrical conductor.

摘要： Economic and efficient process for preparing an oligomer of poly(butylene terephthalate) or an oligomer of poly(butylene isophthalate) from a transesterification reaction mass by using a countercurrent column reactor system wherein the transesterification reaction mass is fed into the countercurrent column reactor and continuously flows downward while simultaneously a heated inert gas stream continuously flows upward to scrub out volatiles from the transesterification reaction mass, thereby yielding from the bottom of the countercurrent column reactor an oligomer of poly(butylene terephthalate) or an oligomer of poly(butylene isophthalate) suitable for use in a polycondensation reaction. Butanediol is recycled throughout the process through an absorber column.

摘要： Fetal heart rate monitoring using ultrasound by means of a transducer in contact with the maternal abdomen. The transducer (11) is driven by a transmit amplifier (12), a receive amplifier (13) amplifies the echoes detected by the transducer. While the receive gate is open, demodulator (14) multiplies the received signal by the local oscillator signal. The sum of the frequencies is removed by low-pass filter (15), while the difference of the frequencies is the Doppler frequency of the received signal which passes through the filter to be digitised by ADC (16), the Rx gate opening a fixed delay after the end of the transmit pulse. A number of range bins are chosen and two ADC readings are made for each bin in intervals during the Rx gate-open interval. One or two of the Doppler audio signals, aperiodic or periodic, will contain the signal from the fetal heart. When a periodic signal is found, its rate is tested to see if it lies within or outside the typical range of a fetal heart.

摘要： A connector comprises a substantially cylindrical housing having an internal circumferential groove therein. A seal element is disposed within the housing, the seal element having an axial passage therethrough. A plurality of circumferential sealing lips are spaced apart along the axial passage and sized such that each of the plurality of circumferential sealing lips provides a compression seal along a cable element inserted through the axial passage. A follower abuts the seal element. A spring is disposed in the groove acting against the follower and forcing the follower against the seal to maintain a fluid seal on the cable element.
