Abstract: Foamed pellets include a composition including a thermoplastic polyurethane obtainable or obtained by reacting a polyisocyanate composition. The polyisocyanate composition includes pentamethylene diisocyanate, at least one chain extender, and a polyol composition. A process produces said foamed pellets, and a molded body can be produced from the foamed pellets. The foamed pellets have many uses including in sports equipment, shoe components, and floor and wall paneling.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are expanded thermoplastic polyurethane beads polymerized from an isocyanate, an isocyanate-reactive compound having a molecular weight between 500 and 10 000 g/mol and a chain extender, wherein customary adjuvants may be additionally present, and the thermoplastic polyurethane has a hard phase fraction ranging from 0.1 to 0.95 and the hard phase fraction is defined by: Hard phase fraction = ∑ x = 1 k ( ( m KVx M KV x ) · M Iso + m KVx ) m ges where MKVx represents a molar mass of chain extender x in g/mol, mKVx represents a mass of chain extender x in g, MIxo represents a molar mass of isocyanate in g/mol, mges represents a total mass of all starting materials without adjuvants, and k represents a number of chain extenders. Also disclosed herein are processes for producing expanded thermoplastic polyurethanes and processes for producing molded parts therefrom.

The invention further relates to a thermoplastic polyurethane obtained or obtainable by such a process and to the use thereof for producing extruded, injection molded and pressed articles as well as foams, cable sheathings, hoses, profiles, drive belts, fibers, nonwovens, films, moldings, soles, sporting goods, shoes, plugs, housings, damping elements for the electricals industry, automotive industry, mechanical engineering, 3D printing, medicine and consumer goods.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for producing a composition (I) at least comprising a compact thermoplastic polyurethane (P1), comprising the providing of at least one compact thermoplastic polyurethane (P1) or a reaction mixture for production of a compact thermoplastic polyurethane (R-P1), the adding of at least one compound (N) that has a conjugated, nitrogen-containing aromatic structure as nucleating agent to the at least one thermoplastic polyurethane (P1) or to the reaction mixture for production of a compact thermoplastic polyurethane (R-P1), wherein the compound (N) is a solid; and the mixing of the nucleating agent and the thermoplastic polyurethane (P1) or the reaction mixture (R-P1) to obtain a composition (I). The nucleating agent is used here in an amount in the range from 0.01% by weight to 2.0% by weight, based on the thermoplastic polyurethane (P1) or the reaction mixture (R-P1). Further relates the present composition comprising at least one compact thermoplastic polyurethane and at least one compound (N) that has a conjugated, nitrogen-containing aromatic structure as nucleating agent, wherein the compound (N) is a solid, and the use of the compounds mentioned as nucleating agents for a compact thermoplastic polyurethane.

Abstract: A crosslinked polyurethane obtainable by a process is disclosed wherein polyisocyanates are mixed with polymeric compounds having at least two hydrogen atoms reactive toward isocyanate groups and comprising at least one diene block copolymer which has at least two hydrogen atoms reactive toward isocyanate and has a polydiene main chain and at least one side chain or terminal chain composed of a polyether and/or a polyester, where the proportion by weight of the polydiene main chain is, based on the total weight of the diene block copolymer, from 25 to 95% by weight, to give a reaction mixture that is cured. Composites and blends composed of crosslinked polyurethane and rubber are also disclosed, as well as the use of crosslinked polyurethane in the production of tires or parts of tires, cable sheathing, shoe sole, roller or hose.
