摘要: The present invention provides a method of making a flanged metal article. The method comprises (a) applying a first braze compound to a first portion of a metal article; (b) winding the first portion of a metal article with a length of a constraining metal member; and (c) heating an assembly of the metal article, the constraining metal member, and the first braze compound to a temperature above the solidus temperature of the first braze compound, typically a temperature in a range from about 300° C. to about 2500° C., to provide a flanged metal article, wherein the metal article has a coefficient of thermal expansion CTE 1, the constraining metal member has a coefficient of thermal expansion CTE 2, and CTE 1 is greater than CTE 2. The invention further provides a metal flange, which minimizes thermal expansion mismatch between a high expansion metal and a low expansion brittle material.

摘要: A method of producing a permanent magnet includes: melting boron, cobalt, a metallic alloy component, a mixed rare earth material, and iron together to form a melted alloy and forming a first alloy ingot using the melted alloy, wherein the permanent magnet comprises about 28-35 weight percent of rare earth material; crushing the first alloy ingot into particles having a first average particle diameter less than about 3 millimeters; milling the particles to form a powder mixture with a second average particle diameter in the range from about 2.5-5 microns; shaping the powder mixture, in a magnetic field, into a powder compact; sintering the powder compact at a temperature ranging from about 1020-1120 degrees centigrade for a time duration ranging from about 1-5 hours to form a second ingot; and aging the second ingot at a temperature ranging from about 450-650 degrees centigrade for time duration ranging from about 1-5 hours

摘要: The present disclosure is generally directed towards magnetization of permanent magnets using superconducting magnetizers. For example, in one embodiment, a superconducting magnetizer assembly is provided. The assembly includes a coil pack having an inner coil including a first superconducting magnet material, the coil being configured to generate a first magnetic field in response to an electric current supplied to the coil, and an outer coil including a second superconducting magnet material, the outer coil being disposed about the inner coil and being configured to generate a second magnetic field in response to an electric current supplied to the outer coil. The coil pack also includes a container configured to house the inner and the outer coils.

摘要: A system for cooling superconducting materials used for magnetization of magnets disposed within a cylindrical structure, the system including a first tubing system for allowing a cooling gas to interact with a high-field strength superconducting material to thermosiphon-cool the high-field strength superconducting material, a second tubing system for allowing a cooling gas to interact with a low-field strength superconducting material to thermosiphon-cool the low-field strength superconducting material, and a cooling gas in liquefied form configured to flow through the first tubing system and/or the second tubing system. An outlet of the first tubing system and an outlet of the second tubing system are located at a same location on a surface of the cylindrical structure. A method for cool superconducting materials used for magnetization of magnets disposed within a cylindrical structure is also disclosed.
