Abstract:
According to one aspect of the present disclosure, a cytology brush may include an elongated shaft including a proximal end portion and a distal end portion. The cytology brush may also include a plurality of bristles mounted on the distal end portion of the elongated shaft. The plurality of bristles may be arranged at least partially around the distal end portion of the elongated shaft, and may be configured to engage tissue. An outer surface of at least one of the bristles may include a micropattern formed by a plurality of protrusions or recesses. The plurality of protrusions or recesses may be separated by one or more gaps.
Abstract:
According to an embodiment of the present disclosure, a medical device for deploying a ligation band may include a tubular body. The tubular body may include a proximal end, a distal end, a radially inner surface defining a lumen through the tubular body, and a radially outer surface. The radially outer surface may include protrusions arranged in rows extending at least partially around a proximal region of the radially outer surface. Protrusions in adjacent rows may be separated by a first distance. Surface features may extend at least partially around a distal region of the radially outer surface. Adjacent surface features may be separated by a second distance larger than the first distance.
Abstract:
The medical device may include an elongate member having a proximal end and a distal end, and a plurality of legs coupled to the distal end of the elongate member. The medical device may also include a moveable element distal to the distal end of the elongate member, disposed around the plurality of legs. The moveable element may be reciprocally moveable relative to the elongate member and plurality of legs between a first and second position. The plurality of legs may be in a collapsed configuration when the moveable element is in the first position, and may be in an expanded configuration when the moveable element is in the second position.
Abstract:
A medical device may comprise a sheath configured to be inserted into a body lumen of a patient. A distal end of the sheath may include an elevator for changing an orientation of a medical device. A handle may include an actuator. The actuator may be operably connected to the elevator. Activation of the actuator may cause movement of the elevator. An engaging portion may, in at least one configuration of the handle, protrude from a surface of a handle body toward the actuator. A force exerted by the user on at least one of the actuator or the engaging portion may cause the handle to transition between (a) a first configuration in which the engaging portion interacts with the actuator to inhibit movement of the actuator relative to the engaging portion and (b) a second configuration in which the actuator is movable relative to the engaging portion.
Abstract:
According to one aspect, a device may include a shaft having a distal end and a lumen, the lumen terminating in a distally-facing opening. An instrument may be inserted through the shaft and may extend through the lumen and out of opening. The device may further include an elevator for engaging the instrument. The elevator may include an actuator extending through at least a portion of the shaft; and a body may be coupled to the actuator. A portion of the body may be configured to extend within the lumen and to apply a force to the instrument and move the instrument into contact with a surface of the lumen when the actuator is moved.
Abstract:
A medical device including an expandable tool configured to extend from a distal end of the medical device. The expandable tool includes a plurality of wires extending from a proximal end of the expandable tool to a distal end of the expandable tool, a plurality of fins extending outwardly from each of the wires of the plurality of wires, and a plurality of projections extending outwardly from each of the fins of the plurality of fins.
Abstract:
Medical devices and related methods are described. The medical device may include a shaft, a handle housing a proximal portion of the shaft, and a lock having a first configuration and a second configuration. In the first configuration of the lock, the shaft may be rotatable about a longitudinal axis of the shaft relative to the handle, and, in the second configuration of the lock, the shaft may be stationary relative to the handle.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for generating navigational guidance for a medical device within a body are disclosed. One computer-implemented method may include: receiving, at a computer server, image data associated with at least one anatomical object; determining, using a processor associated with the computer server and via application of a trained predictive navigational guidance model to the image data, navigational guidance for the medical device in relation to the at least one anatomical object; generating, based on the determining, at least one visual representation associated with the navigational guidance; and transmitting, to a user device in network communication with the computer server, instructions to display the at least one visual representation associated with the navigational guidance overtop of the image data on a display screen of the user device.
Abstract:
According to an example, a handle assembly for a medical device may comprise a handle body, and a first knob for controlling movement of a distal portion of the medical device, the first knob may comprise a first rotational axis, and a second knob for controlling movement of the distal portion of the medical device, the second knob may comprise a second rotational axis, wherein the first rotational axis may be spaced from the second rotational axis.
