Abstract:
A rotary directional pressure engine having a case within which a plurality of rotors rotate in parallel. The rotors include asymmetrical cavities on the circumferential faces thereof, which cavities function to move air and/or other gases into a combustion chamber area during an intake phase, to cooperatively form a combustion chamber during an ignition and combustion phase, and to move exhaust gases to the area of one or more exhaust ports for removal from the engine during an exhaust phase. Continued rotation of the rotors is accomplished by harnessing and properly directing the forces of combustion against the asymmetrical cavities of the rotors.
Abstract:
Methods and instruments are provided to allow access to a surgical site through a small incision while optimizing visualization of the patient anatomy. The instrumentation provide for the retraction of soft tissue, creation of a working envelope below the skin, and access to intervertebral discs and/or the surrounding bony structures for the purpose of performing various operative procedures including discectomy, laminectomy, and other spinal fixations. One set of disclosed instrumentation provides for the targeting of placement and trajectory of spinal fixation devices while reducing the number of instruments necessary needed to pass through the surgical incision. Another instrument disclosed herein allows for the compression of the intervertebral space through a very small incision. The instrument profile is minimized by using the same instrument that is used for tightening of the pedicle screws as one of the active components of the compression instrument.
Abstract:
Knowledge-based information can be captured and processed to create a library of such knowledge. A maintenance worker performing a task for an asset can record audio and/or video information during the performance, and can upload the recording to a maintenance system. The system processes the recording to produce a text file corresponding to any speech during the recording, and generates a search index allowing the text file to be searched by a user. If the task is performed in the context of a work order, for example, information from the work order can be associated with the text file so that a user can search by text search, keyword, task, or other such information. A user then can locate and access the text file and/or the corresponding recording for playback.

Abstract:
A system for reducing organic contaminates from the condensate discharge of a closed loop industrial drying process. The system includes a dryer, a regenerative thermal oxidizer (RTO) in flow communication with the dryer, and an energy recovery unit in flow communication with the RTO.

Abstract:
Improved hand assemblies and methods combining a number of the separate known devices used in transseptal catheterization procedures, including sheaths, dilators, and needle assemblies (including a puncture device and a stylet, for example). The hand assemblies provide cooperating members that reduce the overall complexity and increase safety of transseptal catheterization procedures.
Abstract:
Disclosed are communication apparatus, a SATA communication device, a system, an enhanced port multiplier and a method for, among other things, establishing a covert communication channel in a protocol-compliant link. In one embodiment, a communication apparatus includes a link interface and a supplemental message interface. The link interface is configured to communicatively couple the communication apparatus to the link for accessing a data stream passing through the link in accordance with a standardized protocol. The supplemental message interface is configured to exchange a supplemental message within the data stream to establish a covert communication channel in the link. The supplemental message supplements the standardized protocol without violating the protocol.
Abstract:
Communication between a game console having a communication port and a portable device is facilitated by determining that a portable device has been directly connected to the communication port, determining the protocol associated with the portable device, and communicating with the portable device using a driver associated with the determined protocol. An ancillary application may handle the communication between the game console and the portable device while a game or entertainment application executes concurrently on the game console. The game application may execute in a reserved predetermined amount of hardware resources of the game console while the ancillary application may execute concurrently using the remaining hardware resources.
Abstract:
An capacitor, comprising a capacitor stack, including one or more substantially planar anode layers, and one or more substantially planar cathode layers, the capacitor including a case with a first opening and a second opening, the first opening sized for passage of the capacitor stack and the second opening defined by walls having a first thickness. Additionally, the capacitor has a cover substantially conforming to the first opening and sealingly connected to the first opening, and a plate substantially conforming to the second opening, the plate adapted for attachment of a terminal, and sealingly connected to the second opening. The plate has a second thickness which is approximately greater than the first thickness of the walls defining the second opening. The capacitor stack is disposed in the case, and the terminal is in electrical connection with the case and at least one capacitor electrode.
