A low power wireless communication method has a remote device with a simple receiver that listens for a wake-up signal. When the wake-up signal is received a complex receiver is turned on to communicate with the control device. In another embodiment, the simple receiver powers up periodically (or aperiodically) to listen for the wake-up signal.In addition, a wireless modem can communicate to a device, such as an electronic lock, in a number of modes to save power. In one mode the wireless modem just passes any incoming messages through to the device in real time. However, if power needs to be conserved incoming messages can be saved in cache and forwarded to the device over a low power bus, such as a serial bus. In another embodiment, the incoming message can be filtered to determine if it needs to be forwarded to the device.

An additional threshold (318) may be used to provide a hysteresis loop (320-321). These arrangements tend to alleviate the effect of mixed transmissive/reflective mode images at medium ambient brightness levels (312) where the brightness level (306) of the reflective mode and the brightness level (308) of the transmissive mode are similar.

A structural insulated laminated construction panel for building structures is described. The panel comprises a rigid core material layer of expanded polymeric material having opposed flat parallel surfaces. An outer skin is adhesively secured to one of the flat surfaces and an inner skin is adhesively secured to the other of the flat surfaces. The core material layer has a density of about 2 lbs/cubic foot. The core material is preferably an expanded polystyrene material. A building structure is constructed from such panels used as exterior and interior wall panels, floor panels and roof panels.

A radiation therapy treatment system and method of treating a patient with radiation. The system integrates positioning of the patient, treatment planning, and delivery of the plan. As a result of the integration of imaging capabilities into the treatment apparatus, and efficient processes for contouring and planning, a patient can be treated in approximately 20 minutes or less. The method includes acquiring image data from the patient, defining a target region with one or more predefined shapes, generating a treatment plan based on the defined target region, and delivering radiation to the target region.
