    摘要: A pulse stimulation system configured for implantation into a patient's body comprises a pulse stimulator, a conductive stimulation lead having a proximal end electrically coupled to the pulse simulator and having a distal end, and an electrode assembly coupled to the distal end of the stimulation lead. The electrode assembly comprises an electrode body having a therapy electrode thereon that is electrically coupled to the stimulation lead for delivering therapy to the patient. A floating electrode is configured to contact the patient's body tissue and has a surface area substantially larger than that of the therapy electrode. A filter is coupled between the therapy electrode and the floating electrode for diverting RF energy toward the floating electrode and away from the therapy electrode.

    摘要: A connector for establishing an external connection with multiple-conductor implantable leads. The connector body is generally cylindrical in shape and includes a unique twist lock design. The cylindrical connector body has two sections which rotate axially with respect to one another, from an `open` position to a `closed` position. Each of the sections has a longitudinal slot therein extending along its surface parallel to the cylindrical axis of the connector. In the `open` position, the slots in the respective sections are in alignment, forming a single longitudinal opening. The opening is keyed to accept an elongated end piece from a lead stylet, the end piece being attached to the end of the implantable electrode. The end piece supports the end of the lead such that the multiple, spaced apart electrical contacts disposed on the lead are exposed on at least one side. The cylindrical body has similarly spaced apart contacts disposed therein, such that when the stylet end piece is placed into the longitudinal opening in the connector, the contacts on the supported lead are brought into contact with the corresponding contacts disposed within the connector body. The end piece is secured inside the connector body by twisting the sections of the connector body into their `closed` position, so that the respective sets of spaced apart contacts are held in firm contact with each other. As the sections of the cylindrical connector body are twisted into the `closed` position, a downward pressure is exerted mechanically on the end piece to ensure good electrical contact.

    摘要: An implantable medical device (IMD) with a housing and electrodes on at least two surfaces of the housing is described. The surfaces may be, for example, opposed, substantially parallel surfaces, e.g., top and bottom surfaces. Location of electrodes on multiple surfaces of the housing may allow the IMD to deliver stimulation to a variety of tissues and with a variety of current field configurations. For example, the IMD may deliver peripheral nerve field stimulation (PNFS) to one or more tissue areas via electrodes selected from one or both of the surfaces to, for example, reduce the sensation of pain in a tissue area proximate to an implantation site of the IMD without targeting a specific nerve. The IMD may be implanted between or within intra-dermal, deep dermal, or subcutaneous layers of the tissue of the patient to deliver PNFS to any one or more of these layers.

    摘要: There is disclosed a medical apparatus for positioning and anchoring a lead to a cranium burr hole. The apparatus comprises generally a sleeve and a plurality of springs positioned within the sleeve. The apparatus may be inserted within a conventional burr hole ring or serve as a stand-alone anchoring device that fits within a burr hole. Once a lead is inserted into the sleeve between the plurality of springs, the springs exert a radial force on the lead body, thereby holding the lead in the desired position. The apparatus may also include a circular disc, defining a slot, mountable within the burr hole ring. The circular disc permits the selective positioning of the lead within the burr hole.
