摘要: An autologous left ventricular assist device (ALVAD) is implanted into a skeletal muscle of a patient, such as being nested in the Latissimus Dorsi muscle. This implantation may be referred to as a training or prefabrication step and may last for 3 to 6 months or even longer. The ALVAD may include a plurality of ribs distributed in a spiral configuration as structural support and may include a plurality of electrodes operative to cause repeated contractions of the latissimus dorsi muscle. Once trained, the autologous LVAD—now integrated into the conditioned muscle—may be repositioned, reshaped and, specifically, moved into proximity with the patient's own heart and operatively coupled in fluid communication therewith for repeatedly contracting so as to pump oxygenated blood to and through the aorta and to the patient's organs and tissues.

摘要: The present invention helps in enabling cardiac recovery in patients with heart failure and for facilitating cardiac muscle regeneration by long term augmentation of the coronary perfusion pressure and thereby the coronary blood flow by using an implantable, preferably self-contained electrically operated pump which takes the oxygen rich blood from one of the chambers of the heart or a large blood vessel, that include the aorta, the subclavian artery, left atrium, one or more pulmonary veins, etc and pumps it into a singular or multitude of coronary arteries through a natural (autologous, homologous or heterologous) or synthetic ‘conduit’, a medium to long term inotropic support to the heart, through a dedicated channel to deliver inotropic and other medicines and stem cells directly into the coronary circulation, where one end of the channel typically ends outside the body and the other end rests inside the lumen of the ‘conduit’ which supplies the oxygenated blood into the coronary arteries; a central processing unit (CPU) with an integrated defibrillator to monitor and control pump speed and flow rates; an implantable power source for the pump which can be charged transcutaneously using an external wireless system (‘TET’: transcutaneous energy transfer systems), to power the pump and the CPU.

摘要: Techniques for modeling therapy fields for therapy delivered by medical devices are described. Each therapy field model is based on a set of therapy parameters and represents where therapy will propagate from the therapy system delivering therapy according to the set of therapy parameters. Therapy field models may be useful in guiding the modification of therapy parameters. As one example, a processor compares an algorithmic model of a therapy field to a reference therapy field and adjusts at least one therapy parameter based on the comparison. As another example, a processor adjusts at least one therapy parameter to increase an operating efficiency of the therapy system while substantially maintaining the modeled therapy field.

摘要: A vestibular neurostimulation device, which may include first and second electrodes; first and second thermoelectric devices thermally coupled, respectively, to first and second earpieces that are configured to be insertable into respective ear canals of a patient; and a controller comprising a waveform generator. The waveform generator may be is configured to deliver a modulated electric signal to the patient through galvanic vestibular stimulation (GVS) using the first and second electrodes and to deliver a time varying thermal waveform to the patient through caloric vestibular stimulation (CVS) using the first and second earpieces simultaneous with the delivery of the modulated electrical signal through GVS. 摘要: A ventricular assist device incorporating a rotary pump, such as a rotary impeller pump is implantable in fluid communication with a ventricle and an artery to assist blood flow from the ventricle to the artery. The device includes a pump drive circuit supplying power to the pump, one or more sensors for sensing one or more electrophysiological signals such as electrogram signals in and a signal processing circuit connected to the sensors and the pump drive circuit. The signal processing circuit is operative to detect the sensor signals and control power supplied to the pump from the pump drive circuit so that the pump runs in a pulsatile mode, with a varying speed synchronized with the cardiac cycle. When an arrhythmia is detected, the pump drive circuit may also run the pump in an atrial arrhythmia mode or a ventricular arrhythmia mode different from the normal pulsatile mode.
