Abstract: Disclosed herein is a foam composition comprising an olefin copolymer that comprises ethylene and an α-olefin or propylene and an α-olefin; an unneutralized carboxylated olefin copolymer; a crosslinking agent; and a blowing agent; where the foam composition is substantially free from neutralized carboxylated ethylene copolymer. Disclosed herein too is a method of manufacturing a foam composition comprising blending together an olefin copolymer that comprises ethylene and an α-olefin or propylene and an α-olefin; an unneutralized carboxylated olefin copolymer; a crosslinking agent; and a blowing agent to form the foam composition; where the foam composition is substantially free from neutralized carboxylated ethylene copolymer; heating the foam composition to activate the blowing agent to form a foam; and crosslinking the foam.

Abstract: The disclosure relates to a tie resin formulation with excellent adhesion to polyethylene terephthalate (PET). The resin includes (A) an ethylene acrylate copolymer formed from ethylene and alkyl acrylate, where the ethylene acrylate copolymer has an acrylate content of 10 to 30 weight percent and an ethylene content of 90 to 70 weight percent based on the total weight of the ethylene acrylate copolymer and the acrylate content and (B) a transesterification catalyst; where the resin includes: 30 to 99.999 weight percent of the ethylene acrylate copolymer based on the total weight of the resin; 0.001 to 10 weight percent of the transesterification catalyst based on the total weight of the resin; and (C) 0 to 69.999 of a non-polar polyolefin based on the total weight of the resin.

Abstract: A curing agent composition for curing an epoxy compound comprising a mixture of: (a) at least one natural oil phenol compound, (b) at least one phenolic resin compound, and (c) at least one amine curing agent; in particular, wherein the curing agent composition is adapted for providing a curable epoxy resin composition with a Shore D hardness build-up greater than 0 after within 2 hours at 23±2° C. and having an anti-blushing property such that 30 minutes after scratching a film cured on a glass panel, the film is at least 50 percent transparent; a curable composition including (I) at least one epoxy compound; and (II) the above curing agent composition, and a thermoset prepared from the above curable composition.

The cardanol-modified epoxy polyol is a reaction product of an epoxy component and an epoxy-reactive component at a ratio of epoxy groups to epoxy reactive groups from 1:1 to 1:5, and the epoxy-reactive component includes a cashew nutshell liquid having a cardanol content of at least 85 wt %, based on a total weight of the cashew nutshell liquid.

Abstract: A synthetic leather article comprising a top coating derived from an internally emulsified PUD, a barrier layer derived from an externally emulsified PUD and a 2K non-solvent PU foam layer is provided. The leather article exhibits high delamination resistance while retaining superior mechanical properties and appearance comparable with those derived from the organic solvent-based PU. A method for preparing the synthetic leather article is also provided.
