摘要: A mask-forming film has a transparent layer between the imageable layer and the carrier sheet, which transparent layer has a refractive index that is lower (by at least 0.04) than that of the carrier sheet or any immediately adjacent layer between it and the carrier sheet. This lower refractive index layer modifies the path of incident radiation during mask image transfer so as to provide steeper shoulder angles in the relief image solid areas. This mask film is used to form a relief image such as in a flexographic printing plate.

摘要: Hyperclusters are a cluster of clusters. Each cluster has associated with it one or more resource groups, and independent node failures within the clusters are handled by platform specific clustering software. The management of coordinated failovers across dependent or independent resources running on heterogeneous platforms is contemplated. A hypercluster manager running on all of the nodes in a cluster communicates with platform specific clustering software regarding any failure conditions, and utilizing a rule-based decision making system, determines actions to take on the node. A plug-in extends exit points definable in non-hypercluster clustering technologies. The failure notification is passed to other affected resource groups in the hypercluster.

摘要: A method far farming different active thicknesses on the same silicon layer includes masking the silicon layer and exposing selected regions of the silicon layer. The thickness of the silicon layer at the exposed regions is changed, either by adding silicon or subtracting silicon from the layer at the exposed regions. Once the mask is removed, the silicon layer has regions of different active thicknesses, respectively suitable for use in different types of devices, such as diodes and transistors.

摘要: A magnetic float assembly is provided, comprising (i) a generally cylindrical paramagnetic (e.g. stainless steel) float enclosure having first and second closed end portions located at opposite ends of a longitudinal axis running the length thereof, and having a generally cylindrical interior surface located between the end portions, (ii) a first annular magnet disposed within the float enclosure at a first location along the longitudinal axis and having an outer surface which substantially corresponds to the generally cylindrical interior surface, and (iii) and a second annular magnet disposed within the float enclosure at a second location along the longitudinal axis and having an outer surface which substantially corresponds to the generally cylindrical interior surface. The first and second annular magnets are separated by a paramagnetic (e.g. aluminum or titanium) spacer. Ends of the first and second annular magnets facing each other are magnetized in one polarity and ends of the first and second cylindrical magnets facing the end portions of the enclosure are magnetized in an opposite polarity. The magnetic field of an operating pole of the assembly is created by the proximity of like-charged portions of the facing magnets, and is directed radially outward of the longitudinal axis of the float enclosure toward the outside of the enclosure.

摘要: Lighting assemblies are provided for visual indicators which indicate the level of fluid in a container. One such assembly comprises a backlighting assembly for a visual fluid level indicator having front and rear transparent viewing windows for viewing the level of a fluid contained therein, comprising (i) a substantially flat fiber optic panel located proximate the rear transparent viewing window; (ii) an attachment mechanism for attaching the substantially flat fiber optic panel to the visual fluid indicator proximate the rear transparent viewing window; and (iii) an illumination source optically coupled to the substantially flat fiber optic panel. The illumination source is a gas filled light source operating at less than 25 volts A.C. which is enclosed in a waterproof and explosion-proof enclosure, and which is optically coupled to the fiber optic panel by a fiber optic light cable. The lighting assembly may also be used for directly illuminating a magnetic fluid level indicator which indicates the level of fluid in a container to which it is attached.

摘要: The ambient broadband radio frequency field strength from broadcast stations is monitored (FIG. 4) by periodic sampling (50, 52). A warning indication is provided if the field strength drops significantly. Drops in such field strength have been correlated empirically with the occurrence of seismic activity, usually several days later. Thus the indication serves as an early warning of an impending earthquake. In one preferred embodiment, a broadband, horizontal, very long monopole antenna (40) was connected to a rectifying and smoothing circuit (FIG. 3) to provide a dc output proportional to the ambient rf field. This voltage is digitized (50), and using a suitably-programmed computer (52), the digital version of the field strength signal is sampled once per minute (78). A cumulative or running average of the minute samples is calculated (80) and held. Once per hour the latest running average is stored (84) and a standard deviation (SD) of the last 24 hourly stored running averages is calculated (88). If the SD exceeds a predetermined value, 0.3 in one embodiment, an alarm is triggered (92). The use of the SD eliminates the effect of day-to-day changes in the amounts of the variations of the ambient field strength, due to changes in tides and other factors. Once per day the samples are written (96) to a permanent storage file and a continuous plot of the field strength is also made (14). Preferably the alarm is triggered only if another detector also provides an indication (FIG. 6), thereby to eliminate the effect of machine error.

摘要: A miniature sealed toggle switch having a housing (2,4) that is sealed by a gasket (16) sealed to the toggle lever by a groove (12b) and RTV (18) and to the housing by a ridge (16d) and a tapered edge (2e) on the base, and by two grooves (6d, 6e, FIG. 3) on the terminals that prevent leaks under different expansion of the metal terminals (6) and the molded base (2a, 2b, FIG. 3). Contactor erosion is reduced by a drop (26d) on the contactor causing arc movement on opening. Grooves (2g, 2h) and arc shields (2f) in the base prevent formation of conductive paths. A stepped taper (12d) on the toggle lever and a tapered hole (28a) reduce wear. Nickel plating of the brass lever (12) and aluminum bushing (4a) insure ground of the lever. The contactor configuration (32c, 32d, FIG. 5), clearance between the toggle lever and actuator, and energy storage in conical spring (30) provide non-stall, non-tease operation. The radius of the actuator tips (28c) are maintained by the radius (32a, 32b, FIG. 5) in the contactor over a time period. Non-teasable momentary action with reduced bounce is provided by spring-biased plungers (36) with controlled clearance relative to the actuator slots, conical spring (30) and contactor (42, FIG. 6) configuration with energy storage points (42d, 42e). Two-way momentary action is provided two pairs of plungers (36, 38, FIG. 8). Non-tease operation is provided by the pivot (26h', FIG. 11) of contactor suspension being above the decision point (26j', FIG. 11) of the contactor. Minor modification (26g', FIG. 11, 96c, FIG. 14a) provide ON-ON-ON operation. A common metal bushing may be used with different sizes of molded cover portion.

摘要: The present invention involves a method for making a relief image. A film that includes a carrier sheet and an imageable material is used to form a mask image that is opaque to a curing radiation. In one embodiment, the mask image is formed on the carrier sheet while in another embodiment, the mask image is formed on a receptor sheet. The mask image is then transferred to a photosensitive material, such as a flexographic printing plate precursor. The resulting assembly is exposed to the curing radiation resulting in exposed and unexposed areas of the photosensitive material. The carrier sheet or the receptor sheet may be removed from the mask image either before or after exposure to the curing radiation. Finally, the photosensitive material and mask image assembly is developed with a suitable developer to form a relief image.
