摘要: The invention concerns a marine vessel propulsion system that can be set into an opening of a boat's hull and which comprises a propulsion and steering unit (9) that can be rotated or swivelled about a vertical axis (z) and which is fixed to the hull by a securing mechanism (12) having a predetermined fracture point or level. It is proposed that a protective plate (13) is arranged on the boat's hull in the aft direction (opposite to the direction of travel F) and behind the propulsion and steering unit (9).

摘要: A marine propulsion drive unit is provided with two energy absorbing structures, one comprising a crushable or deformable nose cone or leading edge of a driveshaft housing and the other comprising a frangible interface that allows the drive unit to separate from the hull of a marine vessel. The crushable or deformable nose cone is configured to absorb energy at relatively low impact velocities with submerged structures and the frangible interface is configured to absorb energy and then detach from the hull of the marine vessel at higher impact velocities.

摘要: An actuator for a marine transmission uses four cavities of preselected size in order to provide four potential forces resulting from pressurized hydraulic fluid within those cavities. The effective areas of surfaces acted upon by the hydraulic pressure are selected in order to provide increased force to move the actuator toward a neutral position from either a forward or reverse gear position. Also, the relative magnitudes of these effective areas are also selected to provide a quicker movement into gear than out of gear, given a similar differential magnitude of pressures within the cavities.

摘要: A steering system for a marine vessel is provided with a connecting link attached to first and second marine propulsion devices. The connecting link is selectively disposable in first and second states of operation which either require synchronous rotation of the first and second marine propulsion devices or, alternatively, independent rotation of the two marine propulsion devices. This allows both marine propulsion devices to be operated by a single actuator or, alternatively, independent maneuvering of the two marine propulsion devices during certain types of docking procedures.

摘要: A self-contained marine propulsion device is disposed within a container, or pod, that is removably attachable to an undersurface of a deck of a pontoon boat. An engine is contained within the container and connected in torque transmitting relation with the marine propulsion device which can be a sterndrive device or a jet drive device. The marine propulsion system is dirigible, with a portion that is rotatable about a generally vertical steering axis and is supported by the container which is attached to the deck of the pontoon boat.

摘要: Methods of and systems for balancing the capacitance of a common series capacitive circuit in a semiconductor-based sensor, such as a humidity sensor, are described. Relative humidity sensors can provide measurements via a series capacitive circuit including a humidity-sensitive dielectric separating a common top plate and first and second bottom plates associated with a first and second capacitor, Cx1 and Cx2. For proper operation, the common top plate should be in capacitive balance. Capacitive balance can be achieved by creating voids within and/or along the common top plate of the sensor. A system for creating voids can include a precision cutting instrument, a measuring device for enabling the measurement of capacitance of at least one of the common series capacitive circuit, Cx1 and Cx2, and power provided from a voltage source.
