摘要:
A process for producing plexifilamentary or foam products by flash spinning in selected spin agents a polymer from the group consisting of poly (1,3-propylene terephthalate), poly (1,4-butylene terephthalate), and poly(ethylene terephthalate), including their copolymers in which the spin agents have minimal or no ozone-depleting properties.
摘要:
The efficiency of electrostatic charging of polyolefin web in a process for flash-spinning polyolefin plexifilament from solution in a C4-C7 hydrocarbon, forming the plexifilament into a web, electrostatically charging the web, and laying the web down as a sheet is improved by having present in the electrostatic charging step environment a charge-improving compound, which can be any one of a number of specifically identified classes of charge-improving compounds. The charge improving compounds are present in an amount of at least 0.1 ppm of the atmosphere in that environment or more.

This invention is directed to a flash spun plexifilamentary strand material comprising blends of thermoplastic material including polyethylene and polypropylene, the resulting strand has a unique morphology comprising a three dimensional integral plexus of semicrystalline fibrous elements.
摘要:
A spin solution of a polyolefin dissolved in a primary solvent selected from the group consisting of methylene chloride and dichloroethylene, and a cyclic partially fluorinated hydrocarbon co-solvent, and a process for producing plexifilamentary polyolefin products by flash-spinning the spin solution.

A process for producing plexifilamentary products by spinning from a solution of a primary solvent selected from the group consisting of methylene chloride and 1,2-dichloroethylene and a co-solvent, and a spin solution of a polyolefin dissolved in a primary solvent selected from the group consisting of methylene chloride, and 1,2-dichloroethylene, and a co-solvent.

The invention provides novel polyesters, fibers and films, nonwovens from the fibers and disposable products of the polyesters such as diapers. The products are degradable under the conditions typically existing in waste compositing processes, have low ingredient costs and yet provide strength and toughness properties adequate for end uses such as in disposable diapers. The polyesters are based upon polyester ingredients, such as polyethylene terephthalate, copolymerized with an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal 4-sulfophthalic acid derivative, and other ingredients, such as polyethylene ether glycols and/or non-aromatic diacids, such as adipic and glutaric acids.

The invention provides novel blends of starch with polyesters, and shaped articles of such blends, including fibers, foams and films, nonwovens from the fibers and disposable products such as diapers. The products are degradable under the conditions typically existing in waste composting processes, have low ingredient costs and yet provide strength and toughness properties adequate for end uses such as in disposable diapers. The polyesters are based upon polyethylene terephthalate copolymerized with other ingredients, including non-aromatic diacids, such as adipic and glutaric acids, polyethylene ether groups, such as diethylene glycol or higher polyalkylene glycols, and hydroxy acids.

An improved process is provided for flash-spinning plexifilamentary film-fibril strands of polyethylene. A portion of the conventionally used trichlorofluoromethane ("F-11") is replaced with at least one isomer of dichlorotrifluoroethane to reduce the ozone depletion hazard.
