摘要: A flexible imaging sheet and a method of constructing a flexible imaging sheet is disclosed. The method of constructing a flexible imaging sheet comprises a step of overlapping, a step of joining, and a step of shaping. In the step of overlapping, a first marginal end region and a second marginal end region of a sheet are overlapped to form an overlap region and a non-overlap region. In the step of joining, the first marginal end region and the second marginal end region of the sheet are joined to one another by a seam in the overlap region. In the step of shaping, the overlap region is shaped to form a generally planar surface co-planar with a surface of the non-overlap region. The flexible imaging sheet comprises a first marginal end region and a second marginal end region The first marginal end region and the second marginal end region are secured by a seam to one another in the overlap region. The first marginal end region and the second marginal end region are substantially co-planar to minimize stress on the flexible imaging sheet. Minimization of stress concentration, resulting from dynamic bending of the flexible imaging sheet during cycling over a roller within an electrophotographic imaging apparatus, is particularly accomplished in the present invention.

摘要: Disclosed is a process which comprises (a) providing a migration imaging member comprising (1) a substrate and (2) a softenable layer comprising a softenable material and a photosensitive migration marking material present in the softenable layer as a monolayer of particles situated at or near the surface of the softenable layer spaced from the substrate; (b) uniformly charging the imaging member; (3) imagewise exposing the charged imaging member to activating radiation at a wavelength to which the migration marking material is sensitive; (d) subsequent to step (c), causing the softenable material to soften and enabling a first portion of the migration marking material to migrate through the softenable material toward the substrate in an imagewise pattern while a second portion of the migration marking material remains substantially unmigrated within the softenable layer; and (e) contacting the second portion of the migration marking material with a transparentizing agent which transparentizes migration marking material.

摘要: A seamless intermediate transfer member has a reinforcing member in an endless configuration, a filler material such as a polymer and electrical property regulating material to regulate the electrical properties such as surface and bulk resistivity, dielectric constant and charge dissipation. The seamless intermediate transfer member also has good mechanical properties. The reinforcing member can be prepared by any suitable method such as by weaving. Filler material and electrical regulating material can be applied on, around or embedded into the reinforcing member. The member can be employed in an electrostatographic imaging system with more than one toner imaging station. The member can pick up a separate image from each individual imaging station and transfer the combined image to a suitable substrate. The seamless intermediate transfer member is capable of dissipating charge between toner imaging stations, achieving good transfer efficiencies and has a non-stretch characteristic to attain good registration of a toner image.

摘要: Electrostatographic coated carrier particles for use in the development of electrostatic latent images are provided by mixing carrier core materials with powdered thermoplastic resin particles having a size of between 0.1 micron and about 30 microns. The carrier core materials are mixed with the resin particles until the resin particles mechanically and/or electrostatically adhere to the core materials and the mixture is heated to a temperature of between 320.degree. F. and 650.degree. F. for between 120 minutes and 20 minutes so that the resin particles melt and fuse to the carrier core materials. The coated carrier particles are cooled, classified to the desired particle size, and mixed with finely-divided toner particles to form a developer mixture. The process is especially advantageous for coating carrier particles with resin materials having poor solubility characteristics.
