摘要: A method for testing a programmable, nonvolatile memory including a matrix of memory cells is provided. A plurality of memory cells are programmed. The programmed memory cells are addressed in succession to identify a lowest of threshold voltage levels. The addressing for each memory location includes applying a selection voltage that is lower than the lowest threshold voltage level corresponding to a memory location currently being addressed. The bits are read from the programmed memory cells for the memory location currently being addressed. The reading is repeated while progressively changing the selection voltage supplied to the word line corresponding to the memory location currently being addressed until it is detected that at least one of the bits of the memory location currently being addressed has switched from a first logic level corresponding to a reading of a programmed memory cell to a second logic level corresponding to a reading of a non-programmed memory cell. The low threshold voltage level is compared in the memory location currently being addressed as determined in the reading with a stored value corresponding to the lowest of the low threshold voltages of the memory locations previously addressed.

摘要: A current control method controls current for drive systems of multi-phase brushless motors, in particular at phase switching, wherein the motor coils coupled to a common node are driven by applying a respective drive voltage to the free end of each coil via corresponding power stages. The method comprises switching the current flow from one phase to the next in the direction of rotation of the motor at the phase switch, thereby forcing the unaffected one of said coils by the phase switch into a state of high impedance. Advantageously, the decreasing rate of the current in the coil unaffected by the phase switch can be twice as high as the decreasing rate of the current in the phase being switched from.

摘要: A write head is described having a switchable damping resistance coupled in parallel with an inductor. The damping resistance is decoupled from the inductor by rendering a transistor nonconductive when a direction of current in the inductor changes. The damping resistance is then coupled to the inductor before oscillations begin in the current in the inductor. The decoupling of the damping resistor eliminates power dissipation in the damping resistor during a change in the direction of current in the inductor.

摘要: A method and apparatus, for applying a current to a coil of a write head assembly of a disk drive, or the like, to cause the flux within the coil to rapidly reverse, has an H-bridge having two pair of two switchable transistors. Each pair of the transistors is connected between a supply voltage and a reference potential, and is adapted to be connected to the coil between the two transistors of each pair. The two transistors of the first pair may be connected to receive a control signal to turn on complementary transistors of the first and second pair of transistors to selectively control current flow in the coil in first or second directions. A reference current source supplies a reference current, and one of the transistors in each of the first and second pairs of transistors is connected when turned on to mirror the reference current to control the currents in the coil. First and second parallel transistors are connected in parallel respectively with the mirror transistors, the first and second parallel transistors being connected to be turned on respectively by the control signal and the inverted control signal concurrently with the respective mirror transistor. A pair of timing elements turn off respective ones of the parallel transistors after a predetermined time so that when the parallel transistors are turned on, the current in the coil overshoots a value established by the mirror transistors.

摘要: A power supply in which control of the switch-on instant of a power device of a boost-circuit (operating in a discontinuous mode) is implemented by monitoring the current which actually flows through the "fly-back" inductance. The current is monitored on a sensing resistance, and, by the use of a comparator, a signal is produced for enabling/disabling the transfer to an input of a PWM driving circuit of a switch-on signal produced by a null detector. This configuration provide good noise immunity, which is particularly useful in power-factor-correction applications, and reduced power dissipation.
