摘要: Catheter device and driving system configured to navigate the catheter through complex narrow tissue openings such as lung bronchi pathway openings of 3 millimeters or less. The device comprises a proximal catheter portion containing a hollow torque shaft, with a distal catheter portion connected to the proximal portion by an isolation transition coupler connected to this torque shaft. The distal position of the catheter is controlled by at least one steering cable/isolation coil arrangement. The system uses processor-controlled actuators that simultaneously rotate the torque shaft and the at least one steering cable/isolation coil in a 1:1 relationship, while also actuating the steering cable. The catheter is tipped by a tool plate, which can be equipped with various sensors and other instruments, connected to the outside via other conduits.

摘要: System and method for using processor-controlled actuators to drive multi-stage catheter devices configured to navigate through complex narrow tissue openings such as lung bronchi pathway openings. The device comprises a proximal catheter portion containing a hollow torque shaft, with a distal catheter portion connected to the proximal portion by a rotatable coupler connected to this hollow shaft. The distal position of the proximal catheter can be controlled by independently controlled proximal stage steering cables positioned outside of the shaft, and the shaft itself can be used to rotate the distal catheter about the rotatable coupler. The position of the distal end of the distal catheter can be further controlled by distal stage steering cables positioned inside of the hollow shaft. The device is tipped by a tool plate, which can be equipped with various sensors and other instruments, connected to the outside via other conduits.

摘要: Computerized system and method of manufacturing an articulated surgical device. Surgical device pathway data (often from medical scans), target and entry point location data, and design parameters in computer memory are used to automatically design, and subsequently manufacture the customized device. The device typically comprises a plurality of units, which may have varying lengths and widths, connected to other units by at least one moveable joint. The device is configured to accommodate multiple pull cables, often running from the distal to the proximal end. These cables enable an operator, often using a proximal control device, to precisely control the orientation of the distal end as the device traverses a patient's body pathways. The distal end of the device may have an effector unit configured to perform a medical task. Design and manufacture are facilitated by use of AI computerized design methods and computer controlled (CNC, laser cutting, 3D printing) methods.

摘要: In an example, there is provided a method for manipulating a robotic surgery tool, the method comprising: applying tension to a first pull wire to cause a first link of a joint device of the tool to pivot in a first plane relative to a yoke attached to the first link; and applying tension to a second pull wire to cause a second link attached to the yoke to pivot in a second plane orthogonal to the first plane.

摘要: Described herein are elongate devices for modifying tissue having a plurality of flexibly connected rungs or links, and methods of using them, including methods of using them to decompress stenotic spinal tissue. These devices may be included as part of a system for modifying tissue. In general, these devices include a plurality of blades positioned on (or formed from) rungs that are flexibly connected. The rungs are typically rigid, somewhat flat and wider than they are long (e.g., rectangular). The rungs may be arranged, ladder like, and may be connected by a flexible connector substrate or between two or more cables. Different sized rungs may be used. The blades (on the rungs) may be arranged in a staggered arrangement. A tissue-collection or tissue capture element may be used to collect the cut or modified tissue.

摘要: Described herein are devices, systems and methods for determining if a nerve is nearby a device or a region of a device. In general, a device for determining if a nerve is nearby a device includes an elongate body having an outer surface with one or more bipole pairs arranged on the outer surface. Bipole pairs may also be referred to as tight bipoles. The bipole pairs may be arranged as a bipole network, and may include a cathode and an anode that are spaced relatively close together to form a limited broadcast field. In general, the broadcast filed is a controlled or “tight” broadcast field that extends from the bipole pair(s). Methods of using these devices and system are also described.
