    Abstract: A fan housing for an air cycle machine includes a fan exit flow passage and a ring disposed around a center axis of the fan housing and disposed around the fan exit flow passage. The ring includes a first end disposed axially opposite a second end and a guide surface facing radially inward relative the center axis and formed between the first end and the second end. The ring also includes a shelf disposed radially inward from the guide surface. The shelf includes a stop surface extending radially and disposed axially between the second end and the guide surface. The shelf also includes a shelf surface facing radially outward relative the center axis and extending axially between the first end and the stop surface.

    Abstract: An annular backing plate for a diffuser in a centrifugal compressor comprises an inner diameter and an outer diameter disposed radially opposite the inner diameter. The backing plate also includes a first surface extending between the inner diameter and the outer diameter of the backing plate. A step is formed on the first surface proximate the inner diameter, wherein the step shifts a portion of the first surface encompassed by the step axially aft relative a portion of the first surface not encompassed by the step.

    Abstract: A nozzle for an air cycle machine. The nozzle has a disk section having a central axis. The nozzle also includes a plurality of blades which extend a blade height H from a bladed face of the disk section. The plurality of blades are arranged radially about the disk section. The nozzle has a throat width W defined between each radially adjacent pair of the plurality of turbine blades. The nozzle includes a coating substantially encapsulating the disk section and the plurality of blades, wherein the coating contains more than 91 percent tungsten carbide by volume.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a bearing sleeve for supporting a shaft of an air cycle machine. The bearing sleeve includes an outer diameter and an inner diameter. The outer diameter is within a range of 3.222 and 3.224 inches. Further included is a foil retaining cavity provided in the inner diameter of the sleeve. The foil retaining cavity includes a slot and first and second openings located at opposing axial ends of the slot. Each of the first and second openings include a small portion and a large portion having different axial lengths. A ratio of the combined axial lengths of the large portions to an axial length of the foil retaining cavity is within a range of 0.19:1 and 0.22:1.

The radially inwardly extending wall extends inwardly to a ledge. A radially inwardly extending web extends to a bearing support. A fillet which will face an impeller when the compressor outlet housing is mounted in a compressor. The fillet connects the ledge to the web. An erosion resistant coating is formed on the fillet. In addition, a compressor incorporating the compressor housing is disclosed as is a method of repairing a compressor outlet housing.

    Abstract: A fan and compressor housing for an air cycle machine includes a fan inlet disposed around a center axis of the housing and having a fan inlet mounting flange, a compressor outlet having a compressor outlet mounting flange, and a compressor inlet having a compressor inlet mounting flange. The fan inlet mounting flange has a pinhole disposed thereon configured to receive a pin from a fan inlet diffuser housing and a fan inlet counterbore configured to receive a mating component from the fan inlet diffuser housing. The compressor outlet mounting flange has a compressor outlet counterbore configured to receive a first mating component from a condenser/reheater. The compressor inlet mounting flange has a compressor inlet counterbore configured to receive a second mating component from the condenser/reheater.
