    Abstract: A method, apparatus and computer program product are provided to identify the class of vehicle driving over a road surface based upon audio data collected as the vehicle drives thereover. With respect to predicting a class of a vehicle, audio data is obtained that is created by the vehicle while driving over the road surface. The audio data includes one or more audio frequency features and/or one or more audio amplitude features. The audio data including the one or more audio frequency features and/or the one or more audio amplitude features is provided to a machine learning model and the class of the vehicle that created the audio data is predicted utilizing the machine learning model. A method, apparatus and computer program product are also provided for training the machine learning model to predict the class of the vehicle driving over the road surface.

    Abstract: An approach is provided for minimizing potential vehicle accident impacts based on accident/road link correlation and/or contextual data. The approach, for example, involves processing accident data, topology data, or a combination thereof associated with a road link to determine a potential negative impact on a passenger of a vehicle, the vehicle, or a combination thereof resulting from a potential accident on the road link. The approach also involves determining a seating position within the vehicle for the passenger, a navigation route for the vehicle, an activity for the passenger to perform or avoid while in the vehicle, a dynamic seat repositioning, or a combination thereof based on the potential negative impact. The approach further involves providing the seating position, the navigation route, the activity for the passenger, a dynamic seat repositioning, or a combination thereof as an output.

In the context of a method, the method receives autonomous transition data associated with at least one autonomous transition region from at least one autonomous vehicle, and based at least on the autonomous transition data, determines one or more dynamic solutions for autonomous transitions within the at least one autonomous transition region. The method also generates a recommendation comprising at least indications of the one or more dynamic solutions and causes transmission of the recommendation to at least one external source.

    Abstract: A method, apparatus and computer program product are provided to facilitate autonomous vehicle selection based on the vehicle's ability to navigate autonomous transition regions along a particular route comprising at least one autonomous transition region. In context of a method, the method receives a route request comprising an origin location and a destination location and determines, based at least on the route request, one or more candidate routes. For a respective candidate route, the method analyzes the respective candidate route based upon one or more autonomous transition region parameters, and causes transmission of information relating to the respective candidate route based upon the analyzing of the respective candidate route and the one or more autonomous transition region parameters associated therewith.
