A method for regulating inking of a printing press. The method includes a first step of providing a picture taking device, a closed-loop control device, and a printed product having a surface with a printed image. A second step of printing a print control strip on the surface next to the printed image. A third step of deriving first picture signals from the print control strip and deriving second picture signals from the printed image with the picture taking device. A fourth step of using the closed-loop control device for deriving actual values representing inking of the print control strip from the first picture signals and comparing the actual values to desired values for deriving resultant comparison values. A fifth step of determining ink adjusting signals for controlling ink distribution devices from the resultant comparison values for varying inking of the print product until a desired value is reached during a printer tuning phase. A sixth step of generating an OK signal when the desired value is reached. A seventh step of using the closed-loop control device for deriving further actual values representing inking of the printed image from the second picture signals and comparing the further actual values to further desired values for creating further resultant comparison values. Lastly, one determines further ink adjusting signals for controlling the ink distribution devices from the further resultant comparison values for varying inking of the printed product.

A double-belt system for processing viscous melts includes a driven upper belt having a lower working run, and a driven lower belt having an upper working run spaced beneath the lower working run to form a gap therewith for receiving a viscous melt. A gap-adjusting mechanism includes upper rollers engaging an upper surface of the lower working run, and lower rollers engaging a lower surface of the upper working run. A distance between the upper rollers and lower rollers is adjustable to vary a size of the gap. A compensation mechanism is disposed over the lower working run to apply an upward force thereto for pulling the lower working run against the upper rollers, thereby resisting sagging of the lower working run. At least one delivery mechanism applies a temperature-controlled liquid across an entire width of the lower working run for controlling a temperature thereof. The liquid is extracted by an extraction mechanism disposed downstream of the delivery mechanism. Vertically adjustable stops are provided for determining a vertical position of respective ones of the upper rollers.

A line diverter has a valve body (2) comprising at least two channels (3), the valve body (2) being displaceable within a casing (1) provided with at least three tubular connection pieces (4). The casing (1) is gastight. In between valve body (2) and casing (1) there is provided a free gas chamber (12), within which the valve body (2)--with the exception of the front surfaces assigned to the end surfaces (8) of the channels (3)--is so arranged that it does not have any contact with the inner surfaces of the casing. A sealing arrangement, which may be employed also for one-channel or multi-channel rotary diverters, comprises a sealing plate (7) within the casing (1), the sealing plate being provided with at least one open passage area corresponding to the channel end surfaces (8). The sealing plate (7) is compressed against the channel end surface(s) by a force acting perpendicularly to the direction of displacement.

Optical fluorophosphate glasses based on Ba(PO.sub.3).sub.2, Al(PO.sub.3).sub.3, alkaline earth metal fluorides and AlF.sub.3 are described which have a refractive index n.sub.e between 1.47 and 1.50, an Abbe-value .nu..sub.e between 85 and 80 and a positive anomalous partial dispersion value .DELTA..nu..sub.e between +17 and +22. They comprise (in wt.-%) 0.5-3 Mg, 8-10 Ca, 12-20 Sr, 9-12 Ba, 7-9 Al, 5-9 P, 8-12 O and 35-38 F. Ti, Na, K and H may additionally be present. The improved physico-chemical parameters (expansion coefficient, glass transition temperature, density, Knoop-hardness) and the transmission characteristics are given, and a process for producing these optical glasses is described.

To perform a method for identifying color measuring strips having measuring areas on printed products, the color measuring strips are scanned with a color measuring instrument. The measured color values acquired by the color measuring instrument are stored in a computer and that the measured color values acquired are each assigned to a printing ink. A sequence formed in this way of printing inks is stored in the computer and then compared with color measuring strip types stored in the computer. The stored color measuring strip type having the greatest probability is then selected.
