摘要: An efficient design for an expanded dynamic range in a lateral flow one step assay for the detection of an analyte in a biological sample is disclosed. The device comprises a multiple strip design, each constructed of four zones; a sample receiving zone, a sample treatment zone, a labeling zone, and a capture zone. The sample containing analyte is accepted in the sample receiving zone in the form of blood, serum, plasma, or urine. It is then carried into the sample treatment zone where it is rendered compatible with the chemistries of the assay strip. The treated sample then flows into the labeling zone where it interacts with visible particles that are coupled to analyte specific binding proteins. The flow continues, carrying the labeled analyte into the capture zone where it is immobilized in specific regions with analyte specific binding proteins. Excess flow is absorbed in an absorbent zone that is in contact with the capture zone. A positive result is interpreted by detection of the visible particles in the specified regions of the capture zone.

摘要: An apparatus and a method for impressing three-dimensional patterns in a slip-formed concrete wall. At least one impression roller is provided at the discharge end of a slip form. The impression roller includes an outer periphery, provided with a layer or coating of resilient material. The layer is pre-formed or pre-cast to include an aesthetically pleasing, three-dimensional pattern. The axis of the roller is maintained in parallel relation to the plane of the exposed surface of the wall, with the outer periphery of the roller slightly depressed into the wall surface. As the uncured concrete wall emerges from the slip form, the impression roller places a pattern into the wall surface which corresponds to the pattern on the roller. Movement of the roller along the wall causes the impression roller to rotate, impressing successively formed portions of the wall with the pattern. Additional rollers may be used to impress patterns on the opposing wall surface, as well as the top wall surface. After the concrete wall has fully cured, stain, paint, or other decorative features may be applied to the pattern, adding further visual interest and variety.

摘要: A cellular telephone network comprising an exchange (101) and a voice messaging center (102) connected to the exchange, the exchange being connectable to a plurality of cellular telephones (103), each having an associated voice mailbox (VM1) at the voice messaging center (102), the exchange (101) being operable in the event of failure to connect a caller to a desired telephone (103) to divert the call to the voice messaging center (102) which can record a message from the caller in the associated mailbox (VM1). When such a message has been stored, the VMC transmits a "message waiting" flag for that telephone to the exchange (101). The exchange (101) transmits a "message waiting" signal to the telephone when it registers with a cell of the network, and/or if it initiates an outgoing call.

摘要: A machine is disclosed which is capable of cutting solid pieces of potato from potato halves. A potato half 42 is supported in the cup 28 of a potato holder 18 beneath a plate 60. The plate 60 slides across the flat surface of the potato half to restrain it from movement, and while this happens a curved blade 88 moves into the potato half through a slot 64 in the plate 60 to cut out a solid piece 116 from the potato half 42. The depth to which the blade 88 penetrates the potato as it sweeps through it is controlled by a cam 100.

摘要: A single-array memory employs a novel storage cell providing dual read/write access via either an "A"-side or a "B"-side. The storage cell uses a unique circuit in which read current is borrowed during writing into the cell. Asymmetrical read/write delay circuitry is provided to avoid overwriting the contents of a storage cell during the read-to-write transition. Row-selection decoders use Schottky-clamping diodes in a way which provide an equivalent oscillation-damping capacitance at the base of the selected-row driver transistor. The single-array memory can be advantageously used as part of a single-chip VLSI four-port register file permitting simultaneous reading and/or writing of registers from any of two read ports or two write ports, respectively. Unidirectional busses connect each storage cell to each of the four ports.

摘要: A temperature compensated differential level shift circuit is provided. An ECL type buffered differential circuit employs a source of threshold voltage, V.sub.T, which matches the temperature-dependent characteristic of the input section of the level shift circuit. In a preferred embodiment, a Schottky diode is provided in the output section of a bandgap reference voltage generator which matches the temperature dependence of a Schottky diode in the input section of the level shift circuit. As temperature shifts, the threshold voltage will shift in a manner that tracks the temperature-produced shift in the input voltage as it passes through the Schottky diode in the input section of the level shift circuit. Matched PNP or NPN transistors may also be used in the input section of the level shift circuit and in the output section of the bandgap reference voltage generator.
