Abstract: Provided is a method of producing a feed or food product in which an inner layer is encrusted with a gelled outer layer composition, the method including the steps of: preparing an outer layer composition feedstock by adding a secondary feedstock to a protein feedstock and/or a starch feedstock that forms a gel upon heating and then mixing by stirring, and preparing an inner layer composition that is encrusted with the outer layer composition; extrusion molding with an extruder provided with a double nozzle so as to cover a surface of the inner layer composition while simultaneously gelling the outer layer composition feedstock by heat treatment; and cutting a continuously extruded cylindrically shaped product to a fixed length with a shutter mechanism while simultaneously encrusting a cut surface with the gelled outer layer composition.

In some embodiments, the tubular component is formed from a curved or rolled corrugated sheet or a curved or rolled ribbed sheet. In another aspect, an edible pet chew includes a cylinder component with alternating ridges and grooves on the surface. In another aspect, an edible pet chew includes a curved corrugated-sheet chip or curved ribbed-sheet chip component with a cross-section shape of a(n) curve/arc with alternating ridges and grooves on the surface. And methods forming the same are provided.

Abstract: A hydrogel fishing bait has a fish attractive scent infused into a water swollen hydrogel. The hydrogel can be a copolymer of at least one water miscible monomer and a cross-linking monomer. The hydrogel can be a terpolymer of hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA), acrylamide, and a crosslinking monomer. The hydrogel terpolymer can be prepared in the shape of a fish or other fish attracting shape. The scent can be an amino acid, protein, fatty acid, sugar, or any combination thereof, and can be from a natural or artificial source. The hydrogel can be filled with a fiber, mesh, or matrix material. The hydrogel can be an interpenetrating polymer network. The hydrogel can be biodegradable. The hydrogel baits when fully hydrated on their surface do not stick to each other.
