    摘要： A hand-held RFID scanner has an extendable shaft with a handle for gripping of the RFID scanner. The shaft expands and retracts with a plurality of telescoping segments, either manually or with an electrical mechanism. An RFID antenna/reader is disposed on one end of the shaft. The RFID reader communicates with an RFID tag by RF communication link. A local controller, implemented as a PDA, is mounted to the extendable shaft and electrically connected to the RFID antenna/reader to receive data from the RFID tag. The local controller has an antenna for transmitting the data to a remote computer. The local controller executes software which allows the user to select whether the data is stored in the RFID tag or the remote computer. The software uses the RFID tag, RFID scanner with local controller, and remote computer to manage data associated with an object such as a wine barrel.

    摘要： A clamp assembly is provided for securing an ancillary device (16) to a standing seam (8), the standing seam comprising a protruding web portion (10) with a head portion (12) at an outer extremity. The clamp assembly includes a substantially rigid member (18; 54) adapted to overlie and contact the head portion of the standing seam. First and second substantially rigid arms (22, 24; 58, 60) extend from the member and are adapted to embrace the head portion in co-operation with the member, at least one of the arms (24; 58, 60) being pivotally interconnected with the member at hinge means (28; 62, 64). The first and second arms have first and second free extremities (36, 38; 70, 72) adapted to face one another and to contact opposite sides of the web portion. Threaded fastener means (40, 41; 86) passes through the ancillary device and into a threaded aperture (46; 88) in the member, from an outer surface of the member. The hinge means permits pivoting of at least one of the first and second arms and separation of the first and second free extremities of the first and second arms, for locating the clamp assembly on the standing seam. The threaded fastener means is subsequently tightened to clamp the ancillary device and grip the web portion of the standing seam in jaw-like manner by the first and second free extremities of the first and second arms.

    摘要： A liquid fuel pump arrangement for delivering fuel to an engine comprises a liquid-ring pump including a motor driven bladed impeller rotor which is located eccentrically within a cylindrical bore of a chamber forming part of a hollow pump body structure. The hollow pump body structure also accommodates a motor-driven prime pump impeller which pumps fuel within the pump body structure to an aircraft or other engine. An inner end wall of the liquid ring pump provides the liquid ring with access to the liquid fuel within the pump body structure while an outer end wall of the liquid ring pump has an air/vapor inlet port through which the bladed impeller of the liquid ring pump during rotation thereof draws air/vapor and an air/vapor outlet port the flow of air/vapor expelled therefrom by compression of the air/vapor within the liquid ring in response to rotation of the bladed impeller being restricted by flow restriction means.
