摘要： A wheel for maintaining a constant distance between an ink discharge plane of a recording head and a recording sheet is provided on a carriage such that it is upstream of the recording head as viewed in the direction of movement of the recording head in a unidirectional print mode. A sensor monitors whether the recording sheet is moved off a contact of a feed roller which feeds the recording sheet to a record position and a pinch roller. Before a trailing edge of the recording sheet is moved off the contact of the feed roller and the pinch roller, bilateral recording is conducted to print in each of forward movement and backward movement of the carriage. When the sensor detects that the trailing edge of the recording sheet has been moved off the contact of the feed roller and the pinch roller, the recording is switched to unilateral printing. The print range at the trailing edge of the recording medium is thus extended.

摘要： If one page of recording is terminated, a carriage moves to a position at which a recording head is located opposite a cap. Then, the ink is discharged through nozzles of the recording head onto temperature detecting element within the cap. Temperature change of the temperature detecting element upon contact with the ink is output from a detecting circuit, and the normal discharge of ink is detected by discharge detecting means. In this way, a decrease in the ink remaining or the detection of ink nondischarge can be securely made.

摘要： A phenolic polymerization inhibitor is recovered from a styrene distillation residue containing the phenolic polymerization inhibitor by a method which comprises extracting the inhibitor from the styrene distillation residue with an oxygen-containing organic solvent having not more than 6 carbon atoms, adding an aromatic hydrocarbon solvent to the oxygen-containing organic solvent phase consequently obtained, and subjecting the resultant mixture to distillation thereby separating the mixture into a solution of the phenolic polymerization inhibitor in the aromatic hydrocarbon solvent and the oxygen-containing organic solvent. The recovered solution is put to use as a polymerization inhibitor either in the unmodified form or in a form separated from the aromatic hydrocarbon solvent.

摘要： A both-side recording apparatus that enables both-side recording on continuous paper using a single recording head, without cutting the continuous paper at an intermediate position, is provided. Reduction in size and costs of the apparatus is achieved by eliminating a conveying path dedicated to both-side recording. The apparatus includes a paper-feeder that feeds continuous paper, a recording head that records an image on the continuous paper, a reversing unit that reverses the continuous paper such that a recording surface of the continuous paper facing the recording head is reversed, and a rewinding mechanism that rewinds the fed continuous paper to the paper-feeder. During both-side recording, recording is performed on the back side of the continuous paper by rewinding the continuous paper by the rewinding mechanism, setting the back side of the continuous paper to oppose the recording head by the reversing unit, and feeding the continuous paper from the paper-feeder.
